I need something to uplift me.
Mine is
Travelling around the Cornish countryside in our crap car, radio on, kids eating lunchables or Greggs happily after a day being slightly cold on the beach. We're half way through our holiday and have a bit of a suntan. The boot is full of tinned goods and we have made some friends at the campsite.
At my mums, there's an old film on their ancient 24" inch telly which flickers. We have just ate beef stew sprinkled with garlic, rosemary and orange zest and have our crumble in bowls on our laps. We might do a puzzle or play a board game. My phone is out of battery.

At home, alone. A hot bath, a good TV series, and an undisturbed sleep in clean sheets. Doesn't get much better than that. Total relaxation.

MotherOfCatBoy · 18/12/2022 11:20

In the sea at sunrise in South Devon in the summer. Cold but golden. Followed by coffee and breakfast with sandy toes.

LindaEllen · 18/12/2022 11:21

Mine is so boring.. but in bed, with DP, nice and warm, talking, with nothing to get up for the day after.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 18/12/2022 11:22

In a taverna by the sea in Kefalonia. With a little carafe of local wine and a Greek salad.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 18/12/2022 11:23

I would say with DH but he pissed me off last night so I’m this scenario I’m alone 😊

Burgoo · 18/12/2022 11:24

In the rainforest in Costa Rica. Such a beautiful place. I could live there with my books, my baby and my wife. Though I'd need the cabin we stayed in, terrifying noises at 3am, and those bloody snakes!

CeeJay81 · 18/12/2022 11:25

Chania, sat outside at a cafe people watching before heading to my apartment balcony nearby. Still 23 degrees there. Just perfect.

vvvv3 · 18/12/2022 11:26

In a hot spring town, in the snowy Japanese mountains, with some amazing restaurants.
If only!

Hopeyoursproutsarealreadyon · 18/12/2022 11:28

Mull. Have been to several amazing countries including Brazil, Portugal and France. Give me cold blustery Mull any day. Absolutely the only place I have no inclination to go leave ..

bloodywhitecat · 18/12/2022 11:33

At home, with DH. He'd probably be bugging me right now with his "Whadda we gunna do now?" before he headed off into his beloved garden to find something to do while I chilled by the Christmas tree with the log burner glowing, then later we'd eat a Sunday roast together.

JorisBonson · 18/12/2022 11:35

Paris. Having a beer on Rue des Trois Freres, watching the world go by.

DailyMaui · 18/12/2022 12:01

Ooh, I'm right back on the Ile D'Oleron with my family.

We cycle to my favourite beach. I'll have a swim, then lie in the sun reading, eating peaches and drinking Badoit. Then a nice lazy ride to a lovely restaurant for lunch where I'll have the seafood platter with lots of fresh bread and butter and some very chilled rose. I'll wander round the little town, buy some nice earrings and have a chat with the shopkeepers. Then back to the lodge in the lovely, quiet campsite for a nap followed by a late afternoon swim in the pool and some crazy golf. The campsite may be small, but it has a pool with water jets and a lazy river, which I love. Then we'll all have pizza sitting outside the lodge, we'll play dominoes, drink cold sparkling Saumur and then I'll read my book again by candlelight.

Absolute bliss.

On a deserted ski slope with my partner: clear blue sky, sun reflecting off the snow, slightly tipsy on the amaretto hot chocolate we sat on deck chairs to drink. Last run of the morning and heading back to pick the kids up from ski school before either taking them back out for the afternoon or to curl up in front of the log burner in the chalet.

@kittykatrawks I very nearly said Beadnell. But couldn't decided between Beadnell and Low Newton, which is which I said Great Langdale, which could have been Glencoe. Big, wild, immersive landscapes anyway.

countrygirl99 · 18/12/2022 12:16

On my horse riding through the countryside, preferably very early on a sunny day.

MiniTheMinx · 18/12/2022 12:28

Ancient woodland at the back of my house. With ponds and a big lake with the remains of an old mill. It was beautiful. I moved, I haven't been back and probably never will. I think sometimes things are better in memory. But it was always my happy place. I played there as a child building camps and climbing trees. I walked the dogs there. My own children played there. It was a big part of my life, 42 years.

Beaconofpope · 18/12/2022 15:10

Actually I do love being in the bath too

Wow, you were very lucky, it sounds beautiful.

Saturday morning in the big white bed the tiny London flat I shared with my late DH, sash window open wide, drinking really good coffee and talking and listening to Radio 3. I’ll never get to go back there – DH died two years ago and I now have a delightfully rambunctious 4 year old who means Saturday morning lie-ins are a thing of the past – but it was the most contentment I had ever felt and is still my happy place.

Thinking of you and how brave and tough you have had to be to get to the place you are today
I am so sorry you have been through something so awful

stopbeeping · 18/12/2022 15:17

On the back of a motorbike in Chiang Mai in the jungle on a tour
Lunch by the big lake in a shaded floating hut
Swim in the lake
Back through jungle and to waterfalls on way home
I was 21, just married and on my honeymoon
The best day of my life. Ever.

peachgreen · 18/12/2022 15:17

That’s really kind @stopbeeping , thank you. I miss him terribly every single day but I’m very grateful I had him, and to have our little girl.

ListenLinda · 18/12/2022 15:18

On a beach, by the pool, in a restaraunt or on a boat trip in Turkey. Counting down the days.

GibKev · 18/12/2022 15:22

I just spent a week in Southend with my best friend who moved there for work. I went to work with her, just enjoyed her company and realised how lucky I was to have this girl in my life. I am a shy guy who suffers from anxiety and depression, but she fills my heart with joy and happiness. Just being with her is enough. Oh and our dogs too!

SomethingOriginal2 · 18/12/2022 15:28

Swimming in the reef in the Maldives. I've had some lovely holidays but being surrounded by ocean really is my happy place.

vitaminC · 18/12/2022 15:31

On a boat, anywhere in the Mediterranean.
Alternatively in Eilat, on the Red Sea, swimming with dolphins.
