There was only one such post yesterday. This morning, it is chock full of them and is basically unusable as a result.

OP posts:
BatshitBanshee · 17/12/2022 14:14

Oh lord. Someone put this one back under its bridge.

Port1aCastis · 17/12/2022 14:19

I'll put what I like on my Facebook thanks honey, my reindeer shite is doing very well this year as are my bottled elves. However my Eau de Bullshit has sold out!

TeenDivided · 17/12/2022 14:21

Perhaps it is users of netmums not mumsnet?

DownToTheSeaAgain · 17/12/2022 14:26

Whenever I see a thread like this I rush off to Facebook to sneer as I am expected to do and get totally disappointed. There's nowt but old toys, shoes and the odd Billy bookcase on mine. Can you post some images please OP

3luckystars · 17/12/2022 14:28

@PelvicFloorClenchReminder 😂

mondaytosunday · 17/12/2022 14:30

What sweet box ads? Surely what appears on FB is based on your searches with no connection to MN? I haven't got any ads for sweets boxes, Christmas Eve boxes etc as I don't search for them. Loads of cat related things though 😻

Sweet Boxes Xmas Confused

WeepingSomnambulist · 17/12/2022 14:34

@ILoveeCakes

Um... the only time sweet boxes are mentioned on mumsnet is when someone makes a, "Facebook marketplace shite" thread and we all share photos of the crap we find on facebook marketplace. A lot of those finds are terrible sweet boxes.

PonyPatter44 · 17/12/2022 14:37

Its half past two on the Saturday before Christmas eve. All the sweet box sellers are out making deliveries, they're not on their phones at home with a gin and tonic and a bowl of chicken satay skewers .

Lovageandrose · 17/12/2022 14:39

Facebook is so 2008

tryandtryagain · 17/12/2022 14:41

@ILoveeCakes I apologise sincerely it's me. I'll remove them all immediately.

tryandtryagain · 17/12/2022 14:41

Not really. Biscuit

GiltEdges · 17/12/2022 15:04

Ironically, Facebook is showing you the types of items its algorithm thinks you might want to purchase. Mine has no sweets whatsoever. Go figure 🤷‍♀️

Stressedmum2017 · 17/12/2022 15:06

I have never done that nor have I planned but my answer is no, I'll post what I like, thanks.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 17/12/2022 15:10

a) not sure anyone is going to read a post on MN by some randomer and think "oh yes OK, I'll stop trying to earn some money to pay the bills" just because a post on MN says so.

b) those kinds of things are often made by parents (usually mums) who don't have any other way of earning an income - bit mean to piss on their efforts

c) I've never made any of that stuff in my life so I'm not defending myself.

iklboo · 17/12/2022 16:24

All the sellers are women, and I'd bet many are SAHMs, so it's not totally unreasonable to assume that a load of them would be on here.

It is actually.

No one owning up to it yet, but I don't believe none of you sell these stupid boxes. Come on - who is it?

Some of them may or may not be on here.

You know where all the ones on your facebook feed are though - why don't you post this instruction on your facebook/in reply to their 'sweet box' post or snooze the offenders for 30 days?

Are you the one posting the 'Dear neighbour' anonymous letters to some people on here?

CherrySocks · 17/12/2022 17:10

Facebook is suggesting I might want to join the Corrugated Iron Appreciation Group, but I don't think that's Mumsnet's fault. (Or is it? Looks around suspiciously........)

GreenEmeraldSea · 17/12/2022 20:54

I hate those sweet boxes. Well, it's the sellers I really hate.

They're all over the local sell and seek group tonight. The descriptions are so smug and one has a picture of their grinning child holding a box out and wearing foam antlers.

WhatTheHellIsAQuasar · 17/12/2022 21:00

I’m going to have to report your post OP you appear to have attracted a whole herd of joyless posters who entirely failed to spot a lighthearted thread in the wild. In fact it just about sums up the dickheads posting on MN these days. It’s just too depressing.
