To be mad at ds for letting out a days heat so he can defrost his footballs?!

Just switched the heating off thinking it would last the evening. Just got up to go in the kitchen and the whole rest of the house is freezing.
ds has been outside with the back door open to get his got footballs cos they are frozen and need to cone inside to defrost!

It’s just one of those things - frustrating but not the end of the world. We all do silly things when we’re excited/in a rush/distracted. Just remind him not to do it again and move on.

My kids would leave the back doors open all day if it meant they didn’t have to get up to let the dogs out (because they would never just walk them willingly, they have to be told that their dogs need walking).

I remember my mum telling me I had to be in or out, as I was letting the heat out by keep opening the door.

Hankunamatata · 15/12/2022 20:27

Yep this is def something mine would do. I feel your pain

LlynTegid · 15/12/2022 20:30

Leaving a door open for ten minutes at any time in winter, unreasonable. Even if he is a budding Premier League footballer.

TheOrigRights · 15/12/2022 20:30

I swear my 13yo would put more and more clothes on and get in bed rather than go down and close a door he'd forgotten to close.
Teenagers don't think like proper people!

Mine comes home from school, comes into my garden office to say hello (nice), and stands there with the chuffing door open until I tell him to close it.
Every. Single. Time.

They get there in the end. My adult son seems to...well...act like an adult!

Haha yep - my mum's favourite line when we were young was "are you trying to heat the street?!" - I admit I find myself saying that one a lot Grin
