I've mucked up 🙄. I thought a group I'm in had decided not to do Christmas presents this year. But, nope, we said not doing bought pressies- homemade gifts is the remit.

We've always done home made plus bought pressies, so essentially we've scaled back.

So I now need to whip up a batch of goodies, package them up by Tuesday evening.

Previously I've done flavoured vodkas, puff pastry mince pies, festive bisvotti and gingerbread granola (which went down incredibly well 🥰).

Amy suggestions please?

And please forgive the blatant misuse of AIBU.

Brownies in Christmas shapes
Marzipan sweets
Peppermint creams
Coconut ice
Truffles.

Any of the foodie magazines will have dozens of recipes on their website at the moment. Don't panic, you've got tonnes of time

Home-made fudge in nice little bags with Xmas ribbon.

Withholdingvitalinfo · 15/12/2022 17:41

Cranberry compote is a good one

monsteronahill · 15/12/2022 17:42

Homemade fudge is a winner and you can do so many flavours! Truffles are a great simple one. Peppermint bark is a personal favourite too! A cute bag with some ribbon always helps too.

How much time do you have? If not much, I'd cheat. Buy some fudge, bash it about a bit and stick it in some paper bags.

We did flavoured nuts last year, lots of recipes on Pinterest and they look and smell amazing!

Homemade fudge.

AdaColeman · 15/12/2022 17:46

Do the granola again as everyone liked it AND it's quick and easy.

Other ideas ...
Shortbread or ginger biscuits
Parkin
Fondant creams with rose or orange water
Cheese straws
Parmesan biscuits

Christmas Chutney or hm Mincemeat.

ODFOx · 15/12/2022 17:48

Jars of daal mix. The recipe is on the BBC food website. Basically you are pushing the effort of cooking into the recipients so that can eat it whenever they like rather than within a few days of the meet-up.

I make this lemon curd. It looks really lovely (even I ordinary, recycled, jars, not fancy ones) and tastes delicious. It as always well received because I don't think it us something tend to buy for themselves/make very often but almost everyone likes it.

Candy can hearts look good, probably for young children though.
Place two candy canes in a heart shape with a lolly stick in the middle, warm in the oven to soften slightly so you can mould into heart shaped.
Once cooled fill the centre with melted chocolate and sweets of choice.
Once set wrap in cellophane, tie together with ribbon.

CitronVert22 · 15/12/2022 17:55

Cheese sablés. Preferably in a Christmas shape.

TerribleMouse · 15/12/2022 17:55

Another vote here for peppermint bark! Or chocolate truffles

Tricyrtis2022 · 15/12/2022 17:58

Another vote for fudge! I did that one year and put the fudge into little bags wrapped with a pretty ribbon. Went down an absolute storm.

Florentines, or a last minute Christmas Cake- I found a great recipe and have been told it's the best they've ever tasted and I've had orders for them!

Are you me?! Although I would be doing this regardless of how much time I had!

i'm going to try candied orange slices dipped in chocolate (just the bottom half).
spotted a video online and they were really nicely presented.
i also like nuts and bolt mix (but not sure all the cereals are available near you)
candied or spiced pecans are nice and easy as well.
i have a big recipe for gingerbread cookies they too look nice.
thankfully survived the decades of cookie exchanges (anyone familiar with that trend).
