Secondary school not allowing kids to eat lunch inside in cold weather

Secondary school not allowing kids to eat their lunch indoors in this cold weather AIBU to feel cross with this as it is detrimental to pupils' health and wellbeing? My child was upset going into school today due to this and less than half the kids are in her class at the moment due to illness. Reasons cited by the school not to open up the hall is building works and needing the hall for flu vaccinations. Obviously I do expect my DC to have fresh air at breaks, but I don't think many adults would like a freezing cold picnic. Don't think there is anything I can do now (and school say will open a hall in January) but just feel upset about it and not sure if AIBU - I had presumed DC had somewhere warm to eat at least (12yrs old)

It's more like "we can't afford to keep the building lit and heated, we can reduce costs by having the school open for less time, by shortening the lunch break, this will also reduce the cost of lunchtime supervision"

The school has no business letting out part of the premises for alternative uses during the school day. If they do, children shouldn't have to suffer for it. If that means they have to pay for extra supervision so children can stay in classrooms, that's a consequence of their decision that they have to suck up.

Schools don't let out the building for the vaccination programme.

Just like they didn't "let out the building" when we were instructed to set up covid testing centres in the hall.

In my son’s school, they have a large body of prefects in y12/13. They each have to spend some lunchtimes supervising playgrounds/ classrooms if wet break, on a rota, alongside a couple of teachers. If they see a problem, they intervene and/or report to a nearby teacher. Perhaps other secondary schools could do this to solve supervision issues, thus allowing everyone to stay inside when it is really cold.

Yes, let's prop up underfunded schools with unpaid child labour.

What?? It’s the kids that get the vaccinations at school.
