To want my kids driven to school this week?

Neighbour has been helping out with school runs but it's a 20 minute walk to school and very cold in London this week. Aibu to drop them to the before school club in the car so they dont have to walk?
They are primary aged.

They are your children, do what you want to do.

Notimeforaname · 11/12/2022 18:14

Does the neighbour want to do that ?

Pterrydactyl · 11/12/2022 18:14

Why would it be unreasonable?

GiltEdges · 11/12/2022 18:14

Why would you be unreasonable? If your neighbour has been doing you a favour, could you offer to drop her DC on top?

MyKidsAreKnobsInDecember · 11/12/2022 18:14

In general, a 20 minute walk with hats gloves vests etc is no problem. If there is another factor, eg asthma triggered by change in temperature/cold air, then I would drive.

I don’t understand why you need help with this question?

GiltEdges · 11/12/2022 18:15

On top = off too

Choice4567 · 11/12/2022 18:15

I don’t really understand what your asking?

Tohaveandtohold · 11/12/2022 18:15

Why would this be an issue? If your neighbour has been helping you out then you can just tell them what you want to do and also take their kids if they want as well. Not sure what your issue is

gaf · 11/12/2022 18:16

Why would you be unreasonable? They’re your kids do what you like?

Notimeforaname · 11/12/2022 18:16

Or do you mean just drop your kids to the school early and leave the helpful neighbour to walk later?

YellowTreeHouse · 11/12/2022 18:16

As long as if you’re meant to be taking the neighbours kids to school too you take them in the car as well.

lunar1 · 11/12/2022 18:16

Does the neighbour have children?

NuffSaidSam · 11/12/2022 18:16

Unless they have medical conditions that make the cold dangerous for them, I think it's a little OTT. It's not that cold.

But, they're your children, do whatever you want! Or maybe ask them what they'd prefer?

EvilRingahBitch · 11/12/2022 18:17

Not strictly necessary, but certainly not unreasonable. Does your neighbour take their own DC as well? Could you give them a lift too?

Womencanlift · 11/12/2022 18:17

A twenty minute walk wrapped up is not a big deal at any age unless there are health issues

If you mean take your kids early and leave the neighbours kids to walk when your neighbour usually helps you out then that’s shitty

Devoutspoken · 11/12/2022 18:18

Walking is great, they can chat

CitronVert22 · 11/12/2022 18:19

Assuming they have suitable coats and hats, I don't see what harm they will come to in temperatures just below zero. If the road gets icy they are in more danger in a car.

FourTeaFallOut · 11/12/2022 18:19

Wow, I'm chuffed enough when a neighbour takes a parcel in for me but yeah, change the plan if it's miserable for them to walk. And will the school just take them in the club without arranging it first? I have serious petty life envy.

Twinklenoseblows · 11/12/2022 18:19

Personally I wouldn't waste the petrol or create the pollution given it is only a 20 minute walk and just some cold weather, but you do you.

Winterfellismyhome · 11/12/2022 18:22

Are you going to take your neighbours children too?

Tannedandfake · 11/12/2022 18:22

Very kind that your neighbour has helped. Take your own kids if you don’t want them to walk

Bayleaf25 · 11/12/2022 18:24

Totally up to you. Not sure what the AIBU is?
