To ask how you are supposed to clean a toilet…

Without a toilet brush?!

(NOT A POO TROLL! Long time member, name change a plenty though)

I get that in your own home, you can use gloves/cloths etc. But in public toilets/other people’s houses, how on earth are you supposed to clean up after yourself without a brush? It’s wildly obvious if you go into a toilet in a small cafe or something that it was you who left the mess!

And no, not pooing outside of your own home ever is not a sensible decision.

This is savage feral behaviour to just leave it.
Wipe it with a bit of toilet roll, job done.

No way would I be putting my hand in a public toilet to clean it with toilet paper 🤢🤢🤢

I wouldn’t even do this in my own toilet tbh… a toilet brush gives a bit of distance when cleaning a toilet and if it’s always sitting in bleach it’s hardly the evil thing mumsnetters make it out to be… 🙄

I don't own a loo brush they give me the heebies. I also never poo anywhere but my own house, never have-I assumed that was normal?!

I don't know if it's normal to never poo outside your house, but it seems a bit odd to me. I was embarrassed as a teenager/young adult, but as I grew up, I realised everyone poos, toilets are provided for people to poo in, other people obviously do poo in toilets outside their homes, so why shouldn't I?

Or maybe you're joking?

people wipe skids away by putting their hand in the water?!

Yes and you wash hands after which is way better than using a brush then leaving it festering in your bathroom 🤢

MangoBiscuit I used to live in a hard water area and had to drop a Steradent tablet into the bowl every night.

Steradent the denture cleaner?

Pythonese · 10/12/2022 01:22

Ask Aggi and Kim 😀

Pelo2022 · 10/12/2022 01:26

@Gingerkittykat I can recommend poo pourri
Stupid name, great product and small enough to carry about
I've put it in our toilets at work, the men were Hmm but when it ran out they were quick to ask for more!

Irishfarmer · 10/12/2022 01:28

Put a few sheets of loo roll in after and hope no one knows it was you!

I get people saying loo brushes are a bit mank but they are so necessary.

Bigger fear than no loo brush, is a loo that doesn't flush fully 😳

I've never left a skidder Confused how are people missing the water? Never had a loo brush either Envy

Gosh, I wish I was as accomplished at pooing as you are Hmm

Mothership4two · 10/12/2022 02:03

In answer to OP's question: a family member always flushes beforehand which apparently stops anything 'sticking' - haven't tried it myself. Yes we do have these types of conversations in our family.

Only weekly! How slovenly.

We knock the whole bathroom down and replace everything every 3 days just to be on the safe side.

Of course that leaves us the problem of having builders permanently in the house who also need the toilet so we let them have a bucket in the back garden. The bucket either gets buried or set on fire.

This ^^

I do this but set fire to the builders also.

NameChangeObvsx1 · 10/12/2022 02:44

Toilet brushes make me want to vomit spleen. Perhaps I’m fortunate in not depositing hardcore shit all over the porcelain, but I’ve always found a dash of bleach down the loo removes anything unpleasant.

ShirleyPhallus · 09/12/2022 12:55

Everyone on MN replaces their toilet weekly just to be sure it’s completely clean surely?

WEEKLY?

I have a new lavatory and seat installed daily, because not to do so is grotesque and vile.

😂

You never poo anywhere but your own home? Never been on holiday? Do you wait for two weeks? Madness

Oh no! I’m now worrying about what my cleaner thinks about me as I don’t have a toilet brush! Well, I do have one of the Toilet Brush ones which uses a paper wad thingy but those are kept in my under sink cupboard and the cleaner doesn’t use any!

But I don’t leave skid marks, any that appear are wiped away immediately and I always chuck bleach down the toilet overnight when the cleaner is due. Hopefully she is not telling the neighbours what a dirty bugger I am for not having a traditional toilet brush!

You're ok, we have a cleaners code lol. We don't discuss anything outside the house. 😊
