Dd, 4 wants to wear her long Elsa dress to Pre-school tomorrow, it’s a Pre school joined to the school she will merge into. Is it weird or ok to go in on it? She’d wear with tights and boots, she normally just wears leggings, jeans, sweater dresses etc..I mean, are they allowed 🤷🏻‍♀️She’s desperate to and won’t ‘Let it go’ 🙄soz…

I send my son in his onesie on top of his clothes to keep him extra warm 😂 who cares as long as their happy and warm that's my priority

Some of you cannot think for yourselves.

Winter2020 · 07/12/2022 16:28

Is there a Christmas jumper day when she could wear it?

Newusernameaug · 07/12/2022 16:30

What’s wrong with children wearing whatever they want?!
just let your child wear whatever they want, whenever they want unless it needs to be weather appropriate.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 07/12/2022 16:31

Oh let her wear it. When my dd was in Nursery there was a little lad that dressed as Bob the Builder everyday. Except for Animal dress up day when he came as Bob the Builder carrying a plastic bag with a Lion Costume in.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/12/2022 16:32

Let her, she'll be in school uniform soon enough!

OneFrenchEgg · 07/12/2022 16:36

Is it practical? Or a thin long fancy dress costume? I wouldn't tbh , different going to Tesco

Some of you cannot think for yourselves.

And "some of you" are sneery for no good reason.

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2022 16:39

I'm not against it per se, but is it practical? What happens when she starts wanting to run about, sit on the carpet etc, it would probably get in her way. I might say something like I'll bring it to pick you up and you can out it straight on!

liveforsummer · 07/12/2022 16:39

Stick it over the top of a long sleeve top and leggings. I assume nursery has no uniform so of course she can wear it if you're happy to let her?!

Haha love it. How cute

Also in the let her wear it camp!

Namora · 07/12/2022 16:39

So long as it doesn't interfere with toileting it will be OK. Put a top under the dress for warmth and so she can ditch the dress if she needs to.
That said, I never allowed costumes at preschool, as the other children may struggle to tell between personally owned costumes and 'everybody' costumes, and might get upset they can't have a go at being Elsa/a doctor/Spiderman.

Onlythings · 07/12/2022 16:40

Yes, go for it :) she’ll be fine!

🤣🤣 I love this kid!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/12/2022 16:42

Put a t shirt underneath with leggings, and then if she gets fed up of wearing it she’s got something sensible underneath. It’s always boiling in nurseries so she’s unlikely to be cold.

PleaseTakeItOff · 07/12/2022 16:43

She’s 4. If she’s comfortable wearing it and won’t be too cold then of course let her wear it. I’m amazed this is a question.

😍

My DD when 4, spent most of June & July in a witch costume. She'd have the biggest tantrums, in the most public places. She's now 14, never pesters for stuff.

How on earth did we get through life before MN lol

unvillage · 07/12/2022 17:02

One thing to consider is will she be upset if it gets dirty? If she spills her drink all down herself or gets smeared in paint by a classmate with sticky hands? Some children are very attached to their fancy dress and don't take well to having to take them off even when they're soaking wet. If she's fine if that happens and can use the toilet without weeing on the back of it, then no problem.

Notanotherone6 · 07/12/2022 17:06

Fine, IF she can manage to go to the toilet in it and run around without tripping over. The nursery staff will not thank parents if they have to help numerous children to use the loo.

I love this so much 🤣

AnxieTeapot · 07/12/2022 17:13

My little one has a different Elsa costume for each day of the week it seems and I happily let her wear them to nursery. It is magic to her and she's quite happy to run around, play and get them a bit messy. They are all Vinted specials so not too precious about them.

Go for it!!! Soon they will be at school and won't have many opportunities to express themselves through fashion at that stage.

Footballmyarse · 07/12/2022 17:14

My dd dressed as Jessie from Tou Story for 6 weeks straight when she was 3. We had two costumes on the go in the end.

Pre school rolled with it and even did a few toy story themed activities with her.

A little boy joined in and dressed as Woody for a couple of weeks (I am sure his parents must have hated us 😂).

Why? Just why? Was there any need for that comment at all?
Rude.
