To remind you Harry & Megan wanted out of the limelight!
OP posts:
PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 01/12/2022 17:08

I don't think they ever said or implied they wanted to be out of the limelight.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2022 17:11

Where’s @LiaRz gone? Distributing reminder leaflets door to door?

Just ignore them if you don't want to hear about them.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 01/12/2022 17:27

OP I thought your link/ video was to show one or both of them stating they wanted out of the limelight - I read this on MN on every thread about H&M but still waiting to see the evidence

TinFoilHatty · 01/12/2022 17:29

Just stop giving them headspace. It is very weird how people are obsessed with them.

YumSushi · 01/12/2022 17:30

I'm interested in their netflix documentary

SpideyCraw · 01/12/2022 17:32

Astonishes me anyone is sticking up for their behaviour.

fair enough to want out of the royal family, but this documentary is not “controlling the narrative”, it is publicly trashing Harry’s family out of a combination of spite and greed.

LadyHarmby · 01/12/2022 17:33

You haven’t seen it yet! How do you know they’re trashing the family?!

SpideyCraw · 01/12/2022 17:36

You’re quite right, and if it turns out that unlike their previous interviews, it doesn’t relate to the royal family, or does so in a neutral as opposed to negative way, I will take back my comment. But I would be very surprised if this turns out to be the case, and certainly the advert seems to imply it will feature Harry’s family heavily.

Sonyrecording · 01/12/2022 17:38

ShirleyPhallus · 01/12/2022 15:57

They wanted to control their own narrative of what was published, which I think is fair.

Meghan’s comment of “imagine your colleague sees a photo of your child on your desk and says ‘nice photo’, then demands to see every photo of your child, and you, and your family ever” - I think that’s a fair comparison to draw. I can’t see anyone in here would be happy about the press hounding you and every detail of your life, and you not being able to have a say back about it

That isn't what happens though is it? Look at William and Kate - a photo on the hospital steps followed by carefully managed photo ops for the press. There is an agreement.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2022 17:38

It reminds me of IACGMOOH, all the people saying how awful it was and how terrible everyone in it was, but presumably watching it every night because they were very well informed of the goings on. Hmm
This will be just the same.

Yeah so fake they'll all be watching

fancyacuppatea · 01/12/2022 17:40

They did, didn't they...hmm...not so sure now the bandwagon is in town.

Yep and they can't see the irony in this!

It's amazing isn't it. So many people are so invested but also don't care 😆

NOW there is an agreement but both Catherine and Meghan were subjected to an absolute hounding of press at the start of their relationships; Meghan had the added layer of a dose of racism and social media being much bigger

PreparationPreparationPrep · 01/12/2022 18:09

Looking at some of the comments I thought the full programme had come out - rather than just the bloody trailer.

TheKeatingFive · 01/12/2022 18:10

There is an agreement.

I'm not sure Meghan saw much evidence of an 'agreement' when the press were criticising her for ridiculous things like touching her bump, eating avocados, wearing tights, etc etc. How did she know that wouldn't be the treatment doled out to her children in time?

yoyy · 01/12/2022 18:11

Just imagine when the episode airs, the board will be full of people who don't care saying how much they don't care whilst watching it! 😁

Syrax · 01/12/2022 18:14

TheKeatingFive · 01/12/2022 16:30

They never actually said that.

However if you want the limelight taken from them, just stop clicking the links. The media only cover them because people are interested.

This x 1000

Murdoch1949 · 01/12/2022 18:32

They wanted out of the UK limelight. The media and online abuse this pair gets is horrendous. This week a retiring security officer has disclosed the extent of the serious threats made against them, obviously this will have been a major concern for them. The refusal to allow them to pay for their own security if they returned to the UK for official visits etc, knowing of the threats, is incomprehensible. The Lady Hussey debacle this week is an indication of the racism within the Royal Family. Hussey was very close to the Queen for decades, her views will have been well known and accepted. Questioning the likely colour of the Sussexes' first child by a RF member is an indication of how Meghan was welcomed or not. The Cambridge's could have done a hell of a lot more to welcome Harry's wife, but they didn't. Why? Did they see the Sussexes as a threat, probably. Meghan is much more assured and able to speak off the cuff than Kate, she has experience of life, work etc which Kate doesn't. Kate did not work, she wasn't called Waity Katie for nothing. After getting a good degree at a top university she worked for a short time for her parents firm and had one other small job. No career at all. Even the Queen suggested she work. The Sussexes were a threat to the Cambridges, it really is like an episode or 6 of The Tudors! They could have been an incredible duo, they could have shown the British media that they were a close team. But no. On the birth of Archie they stayed away. The cousins were not introduced for weeks, who does that to his only brother? The self serving Cambridges are the villains in this tragedy, and the UK and the RF are the losers.

But the public would not want to see every photo of them and their family forever. They would only need be seen on public duties and state occasions if they had continued as working royals. They could have lived relatively quiet lives out of lime light if they had chosen like Edward's and Sophie's children, as their children would be way down the line of succession
I think they thought themselves more interesring to the public than they were, everylne was excited to see them marry and have a baby, then the interest would have waned

The treatment of her by the press was disgusting. There was a comparison done between headlines about Catherine and headlines, Catherine was written about positively and Meghan was written about negatively.l despite them doing the exact same thing.

www.buzzfeednews.com/article/ellievhall/meghan-markle-kate-middleton-double-standards-royal

There were also real and credible threats against Meghan's life and Harry's life, threats which others were downplaying, so I can understand why they didn't feel safe and didn't feel their children would be safe.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/nov/29/duchess-of-sussex-faced-disgusting-threats-to-life-senior-met-officer-says

Let's not forget too the many comments online (and in real life too) "innocently" speculating about what Archie would look like and insisting that it was an outrage that they weren't doing a photo on the hospital steps as if it was their right to see. These same people are probably also the type of people to ban visitors for two weeks after their own births but heaven forbid another woman not want to go on public parade just hours after shoving a human out of her vadge. The photo on the steps isn't even a long standing tradition, Diana and Charles started it but it's not some centuries old convention like people seem to think.

We're going to need a topic if this carries on. Especially when the Netflix thing actually airs.
Threads everywhere. If you don't like them fair enough but maybe don't watch it and don't start whiny threads about them.

You could just hide the thread(s) - it's ever so simple.
