To remind you Harry & Megan wanted out of the limelight!
OP posts:

I don’t usually bash and don’t care much either way, but just seen the trailer for their documentary and Harry has his book coming out.

FFS, they couldn’t be doing any more to stay in the bloody limelight.

Shesasuperfreak · 01/12/2022 15:44

They gotta make their money some how and this is the content that people will pay for.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2022 15:46

YABU

girlmom21 · 01/12/2022 15:53

Just don't bother giving them the attention they want with their documentary and book and podcasts then?

ShirleyPhallus · 01/12/2022 15:57

They wanted to control their own narrative of what was published, which I think is fair.

Meghan’s comment of “imagine your colleague sees a photo of your child on your desk and says ‘nice photo’, then demands to see every photo of your child, and you, and your family ever” - I think that’s a fair comparison to draw. I can’t see anyone in here would be happy about the press hounding you and every detail of your life, and you not being able to have a say back about it

Hooverphobe · 01/12/2022 15:57

Pair of fuds.

Ponoka7 · 01/12/2022 15:59

They didn't want out if the limelight, they wanted out of the gutter press picking apart every aspect of their lives and reporting it in a way that suits said gutter press's agenda. How many of us watch history documentaries looking behind the palace walls/in the inner circle etc? here we have living history and a life that is fascinating. Why shouldn't he share his experience? What should they give up their charity work? Etc etc. Strange how these threads are always started when there's a fuck up at the palace, or something that gives credence to what H&M have said.

ElmoNeedsThePotty · 01/12/2022 16:01

The timing of this release today makes them look very petty and immature.

Ponoka7 · 01/12/2022 16:01

Also what's your opinion on Mike Tindal in IACGMOOH? Or the younger royals hanging out with more and more celebrities, rather than traditional friends?

x2boys · 01/12/2022 16:03

You don't want them to have any limelight ,than maybe people should stop with the endless bitchy threads then ,just a thought ....

Chippy1234 · 01/12/2022 16:06

They are annoying windbags who think their views need to be heard again and again whilst taking private planes and selling 'their' truth to the highest bidder.

Perhaps she should have listened to her sister in law who followed the example of the Swedish royal family and agreed with the press that if they kept their zoom lenses away she would provide a trickle of family photos.

Sparklingbrook · 01/12/2022 16:08

We're going to need a topic if this carries on. Especially when the Netflix thing actually airs.
Threads everywhere. If you don't like them fair enough but maybe don't watch it and don't start whiny threads about them.

I still think of him as a retired rugby player, I frequently forget that he married the daughter of the Princess Royal. As far as I'm aware, none of them have been hanging their dirty washing out.

Exactly, that's what other famous people tend to do, including other Royals such as Edward and Sophie, Anne, etc. They have a kind of "unwritten" agreement.

Lots of other slebs do the same, incl pop stars, actors, etc. and as a result they don't end up with telephoto lenses into their private lives - throw them a fish and they're happy!

If you don't respect the media, then you're going the feel their backlash in terms of complete loss of control over what they report/publish.

Diana tried to "play" the media to her own benefit and look how that ended!

Pinniepotter · 01/12/2022 16:28

I thinking publicly dragging your family is a grim thing to do. I guess this is all they've got to sell at this juncture. But hopefully once they stop selling their story they can get on with doing something meaningful and useful with their lives.

TheKeatingFive · 01/12/2022 16:30

They never actually said that.

However if you want the limelight taken from them, just stop clicking the links. The media only cover them because people are interested.

Endwalker · 01/12/2022 16:37

They wanted out of the Royal Family, by which I mean the 'business' side of things, and by extension the unhealthy environment associated with it. Seeing as it's been in the news this week that there were credible death threats against them and it was clear that the Palace did nothing to try and push back at the negative press directed towards them (and Meghan in particular) I think they were right to do so.

They never actually said they wanted to quit the limelight though and have a right to make a living however they like. People have the right not to read/watch if they're not interested.

Perhaps if the Royal Family didn't want negative things written about them then they shouldn't have done negative things...?

AccioChocolate · 01/12/2022 16:40

Why do you want to remind me of that? What's it do with you?

LadyHarmby · 01/12/2022 16:41

Agree. They never actually said they wanted to be out of the limelight. What they wanted was to step down as working royals and earn their own money. They have a story they want to tell, why shouldn’t they tell it? Whether you listen or not is a free choice.

user1470086075 · 01/12/2022 16:48

I can’t blame them.

which isn’t to say I agree with all their choices.

StrawberryWater · 01/12/2022 16:51

They said they wanted control over their own narrative. I don’t see an issue with that.

Anyone who doesn’t like it is free to ignore.

Tinkerbyebye · 01/12/2022 16:54

I am sick to death of the pair of them, and wish the UK press would give them what they want and don’t report on them

Tinkerbyebye · 01/12/2022 16:54

Then why bump the thread?

Murasakispillowbook · 01/12/2022 17:01

There's lots of people I'm not overly interested in. I just don't, well, take any notice of them! I don't really get why people don't just ignore folks they don't like. It's not like they're popping round for a brew. You're just reading things online.

Leave them be and focus on things you do like! Or things you can change for the better.
