To dislike my husbands beard

wowserstrousers · 28/11/2022 22:04

My husband has decided to grow a beard lord knows why.He looks like a bloody tramp cant even look his side.It started because he couldn't be arsed getting a shave and it has escalated from there.
It makes him look loads older not in a good way i cant bear to kiss him its that bad.Worse still he knows how I feel about it.

You can only dictate how he looks of you're prepared for him to dictate how you look.

It's perfectly okay to say that it scratches and irritates your skin if that's the case, but that's about it.

KimberleyClark · 28/11/2022 23:18

My DH grew a beard when we were both laid low with Covid. I liked the feel of it but not the look of it. He had one before I met him and it looked a lot better then.

Minfilia · 28/11/2022 23:19

I love a beard. DH grew one ten years ago and is banned from shaving it off 🤣

Creamywhiteness · 28/11/2022 23:21

I think a beard “giving the ick” is quite extreme. There was a thread once about awful sex experiences, and one poster said a bed partner had said, in reference to their respective genitals “he likes it when she does that”. Now that, surely, is ick-inducing?

My wife has decided to stop wearing make up lord knows why. She looks like a bloody tramp cant even look her side. It started because she couldn't be arsed putting it on anymore and it has escalated from there.

It’s not the same

Not wearing makeup doesn’t make you worry a bit of aged sandwich or snot might make into into your mouth when being kissed, or give you a rash.

I totally understand why men CBA to shave, but I just don’t like kissing a whole eco system

converseandjeans · 28/11/2022 23:23

They're in fashion though aren't they? He probably thinks he's on trend.

Personally I'll be glad when beards, tattoos and skinny jeans have had their day....

Onnabugeisha · 28/11/2022 23:25

My DH has to shave to get a kiss. I don’t know what it is but facial hair on men always gives me a prickly rash. I know it’s his body hair and like my body hair should be 100% his decision, but I’m seemingly allergic?

LauderSyme · 28/11/2022 23:26

YANBU. I don't like beards either, not from afar and definitely not up close.

Yesterday "the anchovy thing" was ick-inducing!

Grow your pubes in protest!!
Bet he complains!.

My beardy husband loves a bush 🤣

smooththecat · 29/11/2022 00:12

Don’t like it, especially grey or ginger when it doesn’t match the head colour. A black one can be ok.

And man buns!

The first and third may be slightly easier to change, according to the trend, than the second one....

MiniatureSchnauzerEyeBrows · 29/11/2022 00:53

His body his choice. Get him some beard oil and a beard brush? Some beards take a while to fill in.

a lot of the men I’ve slept with love a 70s style bush 😀.

Dalekjastninerels · 29/11/2022 03:06

I am very unattracted to bearded men, especially the bald head and beard combo.Envy
I am single though and not looking.

Maybe stop shaving legs, bits and underarms? Then if he complains say, well...

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2022 07:27

Beard oil and brush 🤢

Blip · 29/11/2022 08:28

I'm not a big fan of beards, they suit some men though. I wouldn't want to be kissing anyone with a beard though as I don't like the feel of them.

lightlypoached · 29/11/2022 10:31

My DH grew a beard, after I told him I hated them. It was just something he wanted and needed to do.

I did warn him that sex and kissing would be off the menu whilst it was in residence. He grew it, enjoyed it for a while (whilst being celibate 😂) and then shaved it off.

I hate the feel of them, they look Un groomed, oral sex is very uncomfortable, and the worst bit - my dad has one so it's like kissing my dad Envy. Shudders.

Imnotswallowingthat · 29/11/2022 10:33

My old nan used to say "never trust a man with a beard, they have something to hide" for some reason !

Don't be ridiculous. Nothing similar.

I posted this originally because I was on here and he said when we spoke about it(yet again in a cards on the table kind of way) that EVERYONE likes beards. So I came here to prove the point but it does give me the ick.

I hate beards and could never kiss a man who had one.

Cigarettesaftersex1 · 29/11/2022 10:42

My DP has a beard, he had to shave it off when he accidently clipped it too short a few months back, I couldn't look at him the same! I know it sounds shallow but he looked sooooo different, luckily he agreed and it's back to stay.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2022 12:33

I can see how they might cover up a weak jawline and double chins, that might be why a lot of men have them.

capricorn12 · 29/11/2022 12:54

When I was little my dad grew a moustache which my mum hated. He refused to shave it off so she bought a short blonde wig (she had long dark hair) and wore it in protest until he shaved the moustache off.
