not an aibu as such but my anxiety is going crazy right now.
there has been a body found in wierd circumstances a few streets down from me.
not sure how much is true as there is only limited amounts in local papers but a neighbour said someone was shot, a hazardous sunstance poured on them and dumped out of a car. i know immediate neighbours have been told to stay in. and not much else has been said. everyone else seems to either be curtain twitching and just trying ti get what info they can (understandable) but no one else i know is experiencing the same level of panic, i dont usually feel like this but this is just so close to home. not sure what im asking really, how to just feel like im not panicking over the top?

Same. Surprised this isn’t being mentioned more.

Because it’s ridiculous

its already been confirmed to have been an acid attack

Sounds normal to feel some anxiety around it. I've lived for over 20 years in a part of London with a sizeable amount of stabbing and shootings, and grew up in the IRA years in London.

It didn't stop me being anxious when there was an acid attack 2 streets over a couple of years ago.

The man has been identified. His name was Liam Smith and he was a 38 year old father.

Sounds like he was shot to death and covered in acid.

News reports describe him being found by a poor member of the public covered in a white powdery substance, with his body 'smoking'.

I've lived in areas with high crime and murder rates and I think I'd be a bit rattled if that happened on my doorstep.

That isn't a bog standard way to kill someone, that' s something that sounds like vengeance, sending a message, targeted, planned.

Very sad but I wouldn't think it was relevant to me unless I knew we ran in same circles & pissed off the same people.

Do you currently take anything for your anxiety? If so I’d be contacting the GP and asking for a medication review

This isn’t normal

I'm hoping it doesn't require a medication review, a lot of people have said they will be anxious

Now we know more I feel better or was more all the uncertainty of it all

spoken by someone who either doesn’t live in belfast or can’t move past the 80s

I was going to say same. Ignorance. Belfast is a very safe place to live.
