This price doesn't include the cost of the log burner either. I know things have gone up in price but I wasn't expecting that. Its quite a tall house so they would use a cherry picker to a access the roof to install. AIBU or does this sound about right?

And there's a big difference between a jobbing builder and a HETAS qualified one.

OP, with the truncated chimney have they quoted to rebuild the brickwork through the loft and out of the roof? If so then that’s unnecessary.

Unless there’s other complications all it needs is flexible liner within the existing brick flue and then insulated twin walled flue the rest of the way out.

Just did a bit of googling there and there seems to be much more building regs etc in the UK in comparison to ireland which I didn't realize. So yes my "handy" comment is a bit inappropriate in this circumstances and I do apologize if I appeared flippant . There are basic installation safety guidelines that need to be followed in Ireland but not to the high requirements that seem to be enforced in the UK

We had ours fitted 3 months ago.

The fitters charged £1200. The flue goes up above roof height (two storey house).

The burner, flue, hearth and all the other gubbins totalled £4,200.

We have just had a Heta log burner installed. Stove and chimney liner cost £1,600. Installer charged £250. He didn't need a cherry picker to get on the roof but was here for about 5 hours. I gave him coffee and lunch. He did an excellent job. Does it make a difference where you live? We're in rural Northern Ireland.

He is in the building trade and is aware of building regs etc. There is no justification for a company to charge that much money

The chimney needs to be lined, flue and any new log burner informed and notified to building regs. I hope he’s done this. It’s not just a case of invalidation of their house insurance but a risk to life if not done right. I’m guessing he has done it correctly though, no one is that much of a cunt they’d risk someone else’s life and insurance.

They didn't really say to be honest, was in and out to be fair and came up with the price on the spot so not estimate of works etc.
Iv contacted some other companies to get a comparison
