The doctor has said that Im to heavy, Im within the range at 24.8 but that I should lose 6 kilo, so going from 72 to 66kg.

I was weighed fully clothed, I take thyroxine and have inhalers, no other health conditions.

I will work on this but

aibu to think that it's the NHS guide line and i'm within them?

You're only just within it! Whether that's healthy for you will depend on your body frame, how/where you carry the weight, and if you have any medical conditions which are exacerbated by excess weight. I'd be inclined to listen to your doctor - or at least talk to them more to understand their reasoning.

The Healthy BMI category covers 20 kilos/3 stone. It's a very generous range! The actual healthy range for me is only about 6 kilos/1 stone right in the middle. Any more and I'm already overweight; any less and I'm already underweight. I have quite a slight body frame, very slender at the narrow bits, and I assume that's why. So if my doctor said what yours did, I'd agree with them.

(I'm slightly heavier than you at the moment; have already lost 8 kilos; and plan on getting to the midpoint).

FlowerArranger thanks for the recommendation, Ive looked and that is looking a really good program. I shall keep up with my sessions at the gym, they are Pt session in a group. Plan to keep cycling this winter as much as possible with weather etc

Ive looked at my details on the NHS app under test results, and it comes back that Body mass index 20-24 is normal, then above ideal body weight 66.5. I'm obviously heavier than this with a higher BMI than 24 and will work on it.

Thanks for the input, Ive tried hard to maintain my weight with regards not having a thyroid and perhaps was being more sensitive about this than I should be.

It sounds like your doctor missed a beat in not commending you on your good management of your weight and thyroid condition, before asking you for more. So well done!
