I’m really desperate 😞 my face is a mess and my make up just slides off the affected patches. It’s making me not want to go out.

It might be a myth but I read that breast milk can calm it down ... could have read this in a DM article though

Research demodex - see if you’ve some of the signs - eg conical eyelash dander - if your rosacea is linked to overpopulation of demodex you can get them under control using tea tree based products such as body shop tea tree face wash.

Azelaic acid cleared it for me.

Captainfairylights · 16/11/2022 01:25

Antibiotic cream for skin (from GP) helped me -- not because of antibiotic action so much as anti-inflammatory. But what knocked it stone dead was HRT. Mine was precipitated by hormonal changes and within a couple of months of starting HRT it had gone. I still have slightly pink cheeks but I find these make me look healthier and there is none of the peeling and soreness of rosacea.

I’m struggling to get an appointment at my GP because it’s not urgent 🥺 I’ve just ordered The Ordinary Azelaic acid cream - the reviews look good and it was on sale, so thank you for that.

If really bad antibiotic tablets kill it fast -- same stuff you'd get for acne. Mine never came back on any real scale

baroqueandblue · 16/11/2022 02:09

Soolantra cream, but you have to ask your GP for a prescription. Google it, has helped a lot of people. Good luck OP, I know how hard it can be to live with a facial skin condition so I feel for you.

ImtheRealfatshady · 16/11/2022 04:57

Solentra cream, you can buy it from Superdrug online through their Dr service. You will need to upload 2 photos. It does work for lot of people.

BeethovenNinth · 16/11/2022 04:57

Gut health.

Fireballxl5 · 16/11/2022 05:31

My gp at the time specialised in skin conditions and prescribed low dose antibiotics. Tetracycline I think. I had to take them for about 9 months but it worked.

swedex · 16/11/2022 05:38

Second azaelic acid its amazing! Really cleared up my nose

Soozikinzii · 16/11/2022 05:38

My husband has roseacea and rosalique does work for him . Its a green cream so he mainly uses it a night so he doesn't look green walking around .

ShandaLear · 16/11/2022 05:40

Soolantra. Game changer. You can buy it from an online pharmacy for about £40. I’ve only ever bought 2 tubes and it worked.

Goatsanddogs · 16/11/2022 05:56

i also recommend Soolantra. I started with gel, then low dose antibiotics, tried tea tree, expensive creams specifically for rosacea and none of them worked.

I had horrendous spots and lumps with rosacea, very painful. Within a month of Soolantra they disappeared and a year later haven’t returned. I requested it from my Gp who hadn’t heard of it, she was actually really keen to find out it if helped so she can prescribe again for others.

sixtiesbaby88 · 16/11/2022 06:00

Soolantra! It works amazingly within weeks for me. Prescribed by hospital dermatologist

Nsws2015 · 16/11/2022 07:32

I spoke to a Dr at my surgery over the phone and she was lovely, I was covering mine with concealer and then thick foundation daily, tried everything I could buy to help it and nothing worked for me, not even the dermatica prescription.

She prescribed rosex and its really helped, my redness has settled loads to the point sometimes it's barely noticeable. I'm on my 2nd tube since April, using twice a day. I also use nivea creme as my facial moisturiser as I have dry skin, and atm love sukin rosehip cream cleanser.

I'm finally able to wear less makeup, there's a patch where there are some broken veins that I still try and cover but it's so much better than it was and I'm so much happier.

margotsdevil · 16/11/2022 07:37

I was on low dose oxytetracycline for a long time. It cleared up but is now back and new GP won't prescribe - anyone been in the same situation and found a cure?

mintich · 16/11/2022 07:39

I'm on my 3rd month of a low dose of roaccutane for rosacea and I can't believe the difference. I had tried everything before

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/11/2022 07:41

There are four different types of rosacea so what works may depend on the type you have. I have found The Ordinary Azaelic acid cream gets rid of the tiny pimples very quickly. Unfortunately I only sought treatment for my rosacea once I had lots of tiny broken veins on my cheeks. I'm looking at having these treated, but haven't got round to it yet.

I've also found Cerave cleansing oil with squalane really beneficial and I don't have the very dry patches on my cheeks anymore since using that. The rest of my skincare regime is The Ordinary buffet serum and natural moisturising factors. I also use retinol every other night. My skins looking so much better than it had for years.

silentpool · 16/11/2022 07:43

I've read that sulphur cream works. It also works on acne.

FOJN · 16/11/2022 07:46

IPL laser treatment can treat rosacea. If you have an aesthetics clinic nearby you could call them to find out if they offer this treatment and how much they charge.

DappledThings · 16/11/2022 07:53

I took tetracycline to clear it up before my wedding. Worked great and didn't come back till about a year later. Didn't want to be on anything permanently though.

impossiblerequest · 16/11/2022 08:02

Soolantra hasn’t worked for me; I used it for three months. I’m supposed to go back to the GP but that’s easier said than done at the moment.

Tootsey11 · 16/11/2022 08:11

There is not and never has been a cure for it. All the posters saying theirs is cured most likely have went into remission. Once you have, you always will. It can take over a decade for it to really develop, so a lot of these products will just improve redness and keep the pimples at bay. Has it gone, no, it's still sitting there in the skin. It runs in my family, and as a sufferer for many years, and having tried everything with minimal success, I have learnt to accept it and stop applying this that and the other.

Nolosomi · 16/11/2022 08:11

My ex had roseacea, he cut out dairy products and it got better.
