Recurrent chemical pregnancies and doctors have no answers - please help me

Posting here as no one replies to other forums in my experience

Has anyone has recurrent chemical pregnancies? Has anyone had this that also has a know thyroid condition?

I have now have four positive pregnancy tests that end in no bleeding.

I have had surgery to treat endometriosis and scarring and was told my issues were hopefully now resolved but there's been another chemical loss so I am feeling doubtful.

Anyone had recurrent pregnancies and IVF has resolved as my GP is recommending this but I'm not sure I trust as I would be paying him privately a lot of money.

The NHS I am finding impossible literally to deal with right now so just want to know if any success from IVF after recurrent chemicals that's all I need answers for right now?

Has anyone done this and it worked? Thanks

Thanks @wurlycurly. I know I have slightly elevated FSH so I’m not sure if IVF would be possible for me, unfortunately. I’m glad it worked out for you in the end

IVF is useful because the doctors can orchestrate your hormones and tweak them. And actually get a look at what is happening to the eggs upon fertilisation. I really didn't expect it to work and almost certainly wouldn't have done the last cycle if we'd had to fund it ourselves

We tried for years then had IVF, turns out my progesterone levels weren't increasing enough to maintain a pregnancy. One IVF try and a ridiculous amount of progesterone supplements later and we had DC1. Then got pregnant naturally a couple of years later but they wouldn't give me progesterone as I hadn't undergone fertility treatment, and as predicted I miscarried. Couple of months after that we did a FET where they monitored my progesterone levels and they were so low I had to spend an additional 5k on top of the treatment just on extra progesterone.
I wonder if you could get your progesterone levels monitored in early pregnancy and see if they are increasing as expected?

Zombie thread

Thanks @wherethecityis ive wondered about progesterone, but my Day 21 test was fine and my luteal phases are usually longish (14-15 days)- do you think it’s still possible that it could be my issue?

wherethecityis · 01/02/2024 13:47

My day 21 was always fine, every test I had before came back perfect and my luteal phases were ok too. I don't think having the usual progesterone surge around ovulation means that they will rise enough to maintain pregnancy. It didn't in my case

Pupsandturtles · 01/02/2024 13:59

Thank you @wherethecityis. how did you work out that your progesterone was low? Was it the post IVF monitoring?

wherethecityis · 01/02/2024 14:10

Yes exactly that. After IVF they do so many tests and measure absolutely everything so they pick these things up

Hi @Pupsandturtles I've changed my username since then, sadly I haven't.

I've had one or two more losses since that post but I've lost count now to be honest.

I'm still childless and have stopped medication given to me by the latest fertility doctor in Harley street. Dr Shehata a lot of people rave about him maybe worth a try as tbf I have only given the treatment three months which isn't really long enough but I have hd enough now. I need a break, maybe I'll try again at some point but right now it's too much

Pupsandturtles · 01/02/2024 22:38

@pregahes im really sorry to hear that. I completely understand needing to take a break. This can be so all-consuming. I don’t think I’ll be able to continue with it indefinitely
