To leave 2 under 2 in the house while I walk to get dc no 3 from childminder 5 doors down the road

Quick pulse - as the title says I have 2 under 2 at home with me now. Dc No 1 is school age and gets picked up by the childminder who lives 5 doors from us.

Should I pack up the 2 babies in a pushchair to walk 2 mins up the road to get dc 1 or risk it and leave them in the bouncer while I run up the road to get dc no 3?

Absolutely you need to take them with you! Or as other posters suggest get school age child to walk to you if you can see them from the gate.
I stupidly left my 3 year old painting with six month baby brother in a bouncer while I popped to the loo - by the time I returned (please note In same house, one room away) baby brother resembled a smurf!!!!

A lot can happen in 2minutes!
Sauing that DC1 is school age is but vague but personally if they are over 6 & you can watch them walk from your house to childminders door & go in I would feel more comfortable doing that than leaving the 2 under 2 alone for 2minutes.
That option or chucking the 2 under 2 in push chair & walking the 2minutes with with DC1 are your only options.

Why would you think it’s acceptable to leave them fgs what if one choked or anything !!!! Can’t childminder drop the other child at yours instead of going to her house ???

fussyhousewife · 15/11/2022 18:17

I would be more inclined to ask childminder to bring your older child to you - pretty certain he/she would understand your reasoning. Leaving children is really not a good idea.

BeetBoxer · 15/11/2022 18:27

The older child walking does seem the obvious solution. But, is nipping out for such a short journey hugely different to going to the loo alone, or having a very quick shower? I'd do those things with children of this age. I'd triple check I had my keys with me though.

Slv199 · 15/11/2022 18:29

Get the school age child to walk 5 doors down with either you or childminder watching.

BobbyBobbyBobby · 15/11/2022 18:33

What would the McCann’s do? Hmmm.....

I think it would be fine if you both don’t have long drives and you can stand at the front of your house in the pavement and the childminder walks him to the pavement and he skips down to you.

Nasty comment, shame on you.

Don't be so lazy! You chose to have 3 children. It’s your job to exercise and educate. Babies need fresh air, stimulation and human interaction so get them in a buggy and sling or sling and toddle, get them out of the house for awhile. They’ll enjoy seeing people; watching cars and buses. Count lamposts and doors. Let them feel different textures of moss and stone. All your kids will enjoy splashing in the rain, looking at the moon, picking up leaves, avoiding lines on the pavement, whatever adventures your neighbourhood holds. Smile at old people. Have a chat with the childminder. Surely you had a family to do things together?

Northbright · 15/11/2022 18:45

I know people who have been reported to social services for leaving a toddler in a car to pay for petrol and one person leaving her (young) kids in the car to nip into tescos to buy one thing while the car was in sight the whole time. And not on a sunny day with the window shut! Mine were always stapled to my side..most tiresome when you need the loos when you are out and about. So be careful who is aware of you leaving them home alone, if you do decide to. No judgement though from this end, whatever you decide.

oosha · 15/11/2022 18:49

You shouldn’t be leaving two children under 2 years old on their own in the house, either take them with you or ask the child minder to drop number 3 off.

Sorry it is a pain but I agree you have to take them with you. My 18 month old son went to a childminder and I got the dreaded call at 8.30 am at work to say meet them at the hospital. She'd 'popped to the loo' and he'd fallen on the edge of her MDF bookcase shelf and split his eyebrow open. I had to hold him down while they glued him, awful, my poor boy.

I’m sorry, are you suggesting your childminder shouldn’t use the toilet while working 🤦🏽‍♀️😂😂😂😂🙈

Chasingclouds100 · 15/11/2022 18:52

Conkersareback · 15/11/2022 18:11

What if they'd run out of the bedroom? What if they'd jumped on the bed and fell, cracked open their heads? What if you'd slipped in the shower and broken your skull?

All highly unlikely to happen?

@Chasingclouds100 doesn't even shower unless her DH is in the house!

So again, what do single parents do?

I don’t think my showering habits are of any concern to you thank you very much

WelliesandWine88 · 15/11/2022 18:55

How is this even a question!.
Yes YABU! Never mind unreasonable, you're being downright dangerous!

Conkersareback · 15/11/2022 18:58

@Chasingclouds100 sorry but you informed what a good parent you were because you got up early before your DH went to work. You made it my business, this is a public forum and I can and will comment.

Thank you.

Don't believe this for one second!

mummytippy · 15/11/2022 19:02

Is this a trick or joke question?!

I would never leave any child under 2 in a house alone not even for 5 minutes.
I used to put my ds in his pushchair while I cut the grass in the front and back garden!

Wow. What an idiotic patronising reply. She may well have spent all day doing this stuff. Her question isn’t “shall I stimulate my kids or leave them to stare at the TV all day”. Crawl back in your hole.

Lily4444 · 15/11/2022 19:05

Take them with you or if you know your neighbours knock on their door and ask if they can watch them for 5mins while you pick up the other

Bebethany · 15/11/2022 19:05

And while you’re running up the road, you trip and break your ankle, put your hand out as a natural response and crack your wrist? Whoooops, not two mins now is is it. Call an ambulance, who will call social service, mom left two babies home alone!!!

Hmm1234 · 15/11/2022 19:06

Why can’t the childminder walk to you? Have you got a front garden with a gate? I wouldn’t risk it as you never know which nosey neighbour is watching and ready to make a malicious SS report!

Er When did I inform everyone what a good parent I am?? Did I type those words er no, and I would appreciate not being ridiculed for only showering when my children are safely with their father - what on earth is wrong with that? It’s none of your damn business

snowbellsxox · 15/11/2022 19:09

The fact you say 'risk it' there's your answer. No way.
