To care more that Matt Hancock cheated on his wife than disregarded his own Covid guidance

I don't watch I'm a Celebrity, but I have read this BBC article: Matt Hancock asks for forgiveness
www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63604403

When he said he "fell in love", did any of his fellow contestants point out that he had a wife and kids, who were probably more traumatised by his humiliation than he was, because they lost a husband and father? I wonder if they are now watching the show with forgiveness in mind?

YABU.

I couldn’t care less about Hancock, or any other politician, cheating on their partners. Today’s politicians don’t generally go in for moralising about personal relationships, so their own private lives are non of my business.
What I do object to is his blatant hypocrisy, and that of so many people in government, in behaving as if the laws which they made and had enforced only apply to the little people and not to them.

That is utterly fucking grim - people arguing about "tiers" like arguing about whether their steak was rare or well done, whereas maybe they shouldn't have asked for steak in the first place.

I'm more bothered that Ant McPartlin still has all his plum jobs.

Ant is OK. He did his penance and it's all over.

I think we should judge Matt Hancock on how he performs in the jungle. Regarding his affair, many marriages break up, it's regrettable but hardly uncommon. We don't know what his ex wife is like, maybe she did the same but it isn't our business.

Regarding his covid directives, did he make them all up on his own? I wouldn't have thought so and anyway lockdown and not mixing with people outside of those with whom you live was essential to keep the virus under control. That is now in the past. Yes some people were harmed by it - I knew somebody who died and her own family could not travel to her funeral. There were a few people present who had to sit far apart. However life goes on.

Hancock seems OK and he's a good sport.

"and not mixing with people outside of those with whom you live was essential to keep the virus under control"

Except for the Amazon delivery drivers and the ones who worked in the warehouses which enabled the laptop classes to get their stuff delivered to them. To do this they had to hit the sweet spot. The sweet spot is where people are scared enough of the virus to stay at home but not too scared so they dont go out to work. Good luck hitting the sweet spot again should another virus come along. Because you would have to manipulate it so key workers wernt to scared to go out to work. would be hard to hit this sweet spot again. There is also the fact that a lot of public goodwill has been used up on one virus.
Lockdowns protected the laptop class!
