AIBU to wonder why do my neighbours only go out when I go out?

My neighbours hardly ever leave the house. They have 2 cars, which are always parked outside. I know this because my living room window faces their drive. However, I have noticed that their cars are only ever gone when I've been out and about in my car, which these days is not very often, as I don't go out that much. Initially I thought it was just a coincidence, but it seems to happen all the time, without fail. If I've been out, the cars are gone. I come home and shortly after, they come back home too. It's starting to creep me out slightly.

Has anyone else encountered something like this?

I imagine it's just coincidence

DysmalRadius · 11/11/2022 22:33

That is weird - is it always both cars? And do you go out at the same time or is your schedule pretty random?

TuisealGinideach · 11/11/2022 22:33

The strangest bit of this post is not the coincidence of the neighbours happening to go out around the same times you do, it’s more about two households of competitive recluses apparently monitoring one another’s rare outings!

Ramble0n · 11/11/2022 22:34

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you.

Shortpoet · 11/11/2022 22:36

Can you go out, leave your car round the corner, wait 5 minutes then sneak back in and see what happens?

PixieLaLa · 11/11/2022 22:37

I imagine it’s nothing or maybe they have dogs and don’t want to leave them barking when your home?

😂 this tickled me

TheGrimSqueakersFlea · 11/11/2022 22:45

Maybe your neighbours are wondering why you always seem to return home when they leave

LydiaBennetsUglyBonnet · 11/11/2022 22:46

Or maybe you only go out when they go out 😂

spirit20 · 11/11/2022 22:49

Maybe they don't trust you and they think you'll break in and rob their valuables if they leave their house unattended while you're at home 😜

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 11/11/2022 22:51

What are you inferring form this?

Mushroomlady · 11/11/2022 22:51

They're obviously spies and they're following you when you go out, albeit from a safe distance.

TheUsualChaos · 11/11/2022 22:56

Do you only go out when it's nice weather? Wait until it's stopped raining? Maybe they do the same so that's why you always go out at similar times. Although, but odd about taking a car each. Maybe they can't stand each others driving? 😆

DysmalRadius · 12/11/2022 11:45

OK, I actually do need to know more...

Yes. Do this. 😁

mrcow · 12/11/2022 11:49

I agree - they are monitoring and following you.

You need to hire a private detective to follow them at a distance. Monitor their patterns. Look for anything else concerning.

LikeTearsInRain · 12/11/2022 11:59

What does you or your partner do for ‘work’?

No seriously, it’s confirmation bias

No I go out at the most random times and in all weathers. There is absolutely no pattern to my routine. My job entails not planned for outings. It's happened again today where I went out this morning. I came back home a couple of hours later...their car was gone. 5 minutes after arriving home, my neighbours are back again.

It's unnerving.

You'll have to park the car around the corner them walk back home and watch them.
Then follow them in your own car.
🙀

Have you got a dog that barks its head off the entire time you're out?

Have they got a dog that barks when they're out so they only go out when you're not there to hear it?

Nope. Neither of us has any pets, so I can't blame this on a dog!

It's not paranoia if it's true.
