High grade pre cancerous cells, I'm petrified. Please talk to me

I've just had a call regarding my most recent smear, I have to go to have a biopsy etc next Thursday. High grade dyskaryosis.

I'm shaking. I have three small children, one is disabled and one just a baby.

Please, can you offer me some words of reassurance from personal experience or even anecdotally.

I have terrible health anxiety and this is my worst nightmare. I can't stop crying.

Posting here shamelessly for traffic.

@Midnightsbecomemyafternoons I'm in Yorkshire, I'm not particularly happy about having to wait til the new year to find out if I need treatment or not so I am trying to put it to the back of my mind until Christmas is over at least.

Those who have been through this, was your grading high or low grade?

I had this 12 years ago after my first smear. CIN3 severe dyskaryosis. I had a LLETZ procedure to remove them then regular follow up. It actually took a good 5 years for me to get a totally clear smear but it was very minor changes after that until finally clear. I'm back to general screening now with 3 yearly smears.

I won't lie it felt like a shadow following me round, not a big worry but always in the back on my mind "what if". So a hand hold and a hug for you OP.

Me again 👋

I think I might? have my results. Can anybody help.

So I received this letter today, identifiable info removed for obvious reasons.

The letter is a copy of the one he was typing up on his computer at the end of my colposcopy/biopsy appointment on 23rd Nov to send to my GP. As you can see he states that he was uncertain what grade my abnormalities were. Couldn't and wouldn't give an estimate.

However below that in bold it says histology, cervix biopsy CIN1

So is that my result? If so it seems they've added that on to the original letter, as the original letter was typed up on Nov 23 the day of my biopsy but this copy was printed on 6th December - so 2+ weeks after the biopsy and maybe enough time for them to have received the results?

I've tried calling the gynaecology unit and the consultants secretary but they never answer the phone.

I forgot to include, I was present when he was typing up the original letter - done by dictophone (where he speaks into a device and that translates into text) and he definitely did not say CIN1 at any point so it does seem like that has been added on after a result has been received?

If this is my result I'll be so happy 🥺

Thank you all for the support when I posted needing advice, I've come back here so many times to re read your posts and always felt alot better for it.

hey @Midnightsbecomemyafternoons , i know this thread hasn’t been active recently but i just thought i would jump on & see if you got any clarification on your results?

Im due colposcopy in a couple of weeks for low grade (mild) changes and i’m so scared. Seeing this thread has definitely helped eased my anxiety as at first i went into meltdown but it’s reassuring to know these changes are actually fairly common.

Do let me know if you see this response what your results were🙂
