AIBU To Be Horrified By Thought Of Trump As POTUS Again

I am terrified and shocked that Donald Trump (probably) intends to to run for president again in 2024.
He says he's about to make a statement on the subject in a few days' time.

Considering all he's done, I think he has a cheek even to consider being the Republican nominee. He had no idea how to run America and yet - he has a huge fan base, who don't seem to care about the insurrection he incited on January 6th 2021.

I am both amazed and appalled at the idea he was president once, let alone the prospect of having another term in office.
I don't understand the people who shrug and think presidents or leaders in other countries are largely irrelevant. the POTUS is one of the most powerful positions in the world and a lot of people will worry what that means when someone like Trump is in power.

i beg to differ, it could be argued that any pm or president is a figure head, and the true power is in eg Whitehall, or depts of the Whitehouse etc, instead of popularity contests what about ones that can begin the process towards a united earth ?

Well it's looking like Trump will be the candidate, but I do not think he will win.

I hope he doesn't win, it's hard to say. The trouble is his fanatics will all come out anc vote for him, and not many people are fanatics for Biden. However there are a lot of people who are realising how high the stakes given the consequences of another Trump presidency - they know he'll increase the incredibly cruel and dangerous abortion bans, they know he will erode democracy and aim to fill the administration at all levels only with people who will side with him, and to take punitive action against anyone he feels 'wronged' him (ie, quite rightly tried to make him feel some consequences for his actions).

He will likely win unless Biden steps down/ has a medical issue and a better candidate runs that more people can get behind.

He'll beat Biden sadly. Whether a better alternative can be found is another story...
