AIBU To Be Disappointed With The Crown (Season 5)

I've enjoyed all the episodes of The Crown so far and was really looking forward to the start of Season 5.
We started watching it last night and we were terribly disappointed.
Imelda Staunton is wonderful as the Queen but she seems to have a very small role in the proceedings so far.
AIBU to wish they'd left it at the end of Season 4? Or is there a reason why Season 5 is just a bit "meh"?

YANBU. They should have stopped at the end of series 2; the first two series were in a league of their own, and I loved the focus on national events at the time, such as the Smog, Suez and Churchill’s relationship with Eden.

I can’t warm to the new series; neither Colman nor Staunton are that convincing, and it’s too recent to be fairly depicted- very unfair on the current royals who can’t speak out about what rot a lot of the storylines are.

I can't believe how badly wrong the casting was. Prince Charles, Prince Phillip, William, princess Anne are all so wrong!

Not read the whole thread but for me there are a couple of reasons why I think I didn’t enjoy it as much as previous seasons. Firstly it is much more focussed on the family and Charles and Diana in particular whereas previous seasons incorporated more of historical events and secondly, I remember all of this happening and it playing out in the papers, it isn’t anything new, whereas there was a lot of stuff in the previous seasons that I either didn’t know or knew very little about.

Yes I agree too recent to be convincing, we remember what it was actually like and all these conversations they have (not the phone hacked ones) I am going oh thats bs that never happened its all made up he would never say that etc etc and although they are good actors nowhere near as good as 1st season which was bang on in my eyes perhaps because I wasn't born.
