Person A has an 8 year old son, he hasn't been to school all week as he had a fever and seemed unwell, Tuesday he was also complaining of stomach ache and he vomited once. She normally picks up Person B’s child from school but as her son wasn't at school, person B has has to pick up her own child this week and wasn't happy as she was having to leave work early. Today, person b went to town and saw Person A out with her son and called the school. Her reasonings are that if her son is well enough to be out, he can be in school.

Is person A in the wrong for keeping her child off school and taking him out or was person B for getting involved and reporting her?

B Haas completely shot themselves in the foot...I imagine they can kiss goodbye to their free childcare (and quite rightly on A's part - why would A help out someone so spiteful?)

AllHailtheSlushy · 10/11/2022 15:56

Oh dear Person B needs new childcare and quick.

Travis1 · 10/11/2022 15:58

Person B is an utter walloper and I hope person A revokes all child care help

Jalepenojello · 10/11/2022 16:00

Person b is a very nasty small minded individual

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 10/11/2022 16:02

Person B is twit to get rid of all their childcare in a fit of pique.

Person A can't return their child to school for 48 hours after vomiting.

MugginsOverEre · 10/11/2022 16:03

"I think it depends where he was seen and what he was doing.
If he was coming out of the cinema with bags of sweeties for example, or in a queue to go on a ride, or coming out of a toy shop/McDonald's then he definitely should be in school."

Not of the school has the 48 hour after vomiting policy. He can be perfectly well and still not allowed in school.

Either way, B will be finishing work early forever more now. Person A just needs to make sure that others know what happened so that they know Person B is to be avoided when she comes asking for lifts off them.

Chesterdrawsseriously · 10/11/2022 16:03

Person b was being really cunty, obvs some bad blood here between the two women, you’d just not do that to someone. So there is history here.

GrumpyMummy123 · 10/11/2022 16:13

B is in the wrong

It's no business of Bs what A is doing. The responsibility of school pick up is entirely on them - unless it's a formal paid for childminding type scenario. A can say no can't do pick up for whatever reason they like. None of Bs business.

A could have been at the Dr, picking up a prescription, getting medication or just needed milk etc and can't leave DS at home alone.

It is possible to be too ill for school but we'll enough to pop out for a bit to run essential errands. I'm sure we've all also seen kids have 24hr bugs - go from poorly to better and full of beans in a matter of hours, but school don't let them back for 48hrs or whatever it is .

Calling school to 'tell on them' is extremely childish and unnecessary. If I were A I'd stop the pick up arrangements due to it. If B had kept quiet everyone could just have got on happily as normal!

OoooohMatron · 10/11/2022 16:16

B for Bellend. No more lifts for her DC.

Yeah I suppose he can but I wouldn't let a child who was poorly, feverish and vomiting earlier in the week do most from my above example 2 days after they were sick in case they a) felt poorly/were sick again b) passed it on to someone or c) if I had any suspicion that they thought in future they could pretend to be ill to get out of school and just have fun (saying this as someone who's brother regularly made himself sick to get out of school).

But then kids also bounce back ridiculously fast from feeling ill so I suppose it would also depend on the individual child.

It's hard to say unless you're in that exact situation with that exact child. And I'm sure B knows what A and her child are like so maybe she also has a 'faking it' supposition?

ChickinBell · 10/11/2022 16:18

B sounds remarkably spiteful

Arenanewbie · 10/11/2022 16:22

person B is wrong.
and it doesn’t matter what child was doing he could be holding bag of sweets which were bought him as a reward for going through blood test. They could be on the way from chemist, GP, hospital or even post office as it was the last day to send off some documents or whatever.

I think person B deserves to enjoy early finishes for a bit longer.

HideTheCroissants · 10/11/2022 16:23

We have a 48 hour policy at school. Sometimes children feel 100% better after vomiting. I know I do!

Person A may have needed food or medication. Person B is out of order..

CherieBabySpliffUp · 10/11/2022 16:27

As all have said, person B is out of order.
Are you person B OP?? Wink

SerenaTee · 10/11/2022 16:32

If Person A’s son was sick on Tuesday, they wouldn’t be allowed back at school until Friday so being out and about is fine.

Person B is a bit of a numpty as they’ve gone from not having Person A picking up their child for a couple of days to not having Person A picking up their child permanently (assuming Person A has a backbone!)

Shamoo · 10/11/2022 16:32

B is such a cunt 😂
I wouldn’t message her, just literally never pick her kid up again!

DontSpeakLatinInFrontOfTheBooks · 10/11/2022 16:36

If I was person A, person B could kiss goodbye to any favours ever again after that behaviour. Well done person B <slow hand clap>

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/11/2022 16:42

I would rather stick pins in my eyes than ever pick the kid up again if I was Person A! As a single mother in the days before online shopping was a thing I would have no choice sometimes to take the kid out with me if I needed food or medicine or whatever. Well enough to nip to the shop for essentials is a lot different to well enough for school, and thats aside from the 48 hour exclusion PP's have mentioned.

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 10/11/2022 16:44

Person B is a spiteful twat and hopefully now has messed up their chances of getting their kid picked up in future royally.

44PumpLane · 10/11/2022 16:45

I hope Person A never does any school pick ups for Person B ever again!!!

Also, if child is fine but not able to go back to school (due to 48 hour policy) then why shouldn't they be out the house?!

Person B is a twat.

CombatBarbie · 10/11/2022 16:45

So fact he was sick on Tues means he's still in the 48hr window, they could have been in town picking up a prescription....

B would be getting no more favours from me.

purplecorkheart · 10/11/2022 16:47

Person B is a twat and also rather stupid. Person A is hardly going to do any pickups anymore.

Mywingshurt · 10/11/2022 16:51

Person B is an arsehole

JurassicShay · 10/11/2022 16:51

Person B is a shitcunt & has shot herself in the foot because person A should tell her to push her head if she wants lifts for her child again.

There could be any perfectly reasonable reasons why the child was out and it has absolutely nothing to do with person B or school.

OnlyFannys · 10/11/2022 16:53

Person B has really fucked themselves as person A is no longer giving their child lifts home now.
