Hope that works better. Just click on the link and find if your trust voted to strike or not.

Apologies for the wall of text in previous thread.

I'm delighted to see that my Trust is on the list and I fully support my nursing colleagues in taking this action

FooFighter99 · 09/11/2022 16:12

Same here, good luck to all and I'll be supportive in my non-clinical role

upfucked · 09/11/2022 16:12

The BBC are reporting all trusts except one Welsh trust (they didn’t name it) are striking.

Tiredoftiers · 09/11/2022 16:16

I read it as slightly more than half of trusts in England have mandate to strike, and all of wales except one trust, and all of Scotland. Due to low turn out in England.

Is this because fewer nurses are members of the RCN in England? I was wondering what happens with non-union members too? I don't have any knowledge of unions, so assume those who are not members or didn't vote to strike can continue working as normal?

borderterrierr · 09/11/2022 16:20

Lots of people in my trust received the ballot 3 days after the cut off date.. postal strike didn't help us at all I don't think

It doesn't look like mine is on the list. I would have fully supported them though.

borderterrierr · 09/11/2022 16:22

Unison are still voting and I think unison have been more inclusive with their wording. Hcas I work with didn't know that they were eligible for rcn membership and could vote to strike. The unison vote definitely includes them and ahps, plus porters and domestics etc.

Actually mine is there but is under an ICB umbrella now after merging Trusts. I wonder what will happen? I am part of an urgent care response team out in the community with a 0-2 hour response time, I am not sure if we will be classed as critical as we take the lower cat 999 calls. Be interesting to see the emails when I go back to work tomorrow. I wonder if this will be over swiftly?

Notjusta · 09/11/2022 16:26

Does anyone know what it means if the ICB is listed - it is nursing staff working in the ICB or all the organisations that come under the ICB? My local trust isn't listed, but my ICB is.

Notjusta · 09/11/2022 16:28

Oh cross posts with @Allicando there! - does that cover acute trusts as well or only community services?

UseOfWeapons · 09/11/2022 16:37

Mine isn't on the list either. I voted to strike. Will support others doing it.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 09/11/2022 18:36

@Notjusta My understanding is ICBs are community but I may be wrong....not much help!

FixundFoxi · 09/11/2022 18:49

Mine's not there either. Not been much discussion at work about it tbh. Seen the odd poster in the corridor but that's about it...

ImEasyLikeSundayMorning · 09/11/2022 19:02

We're there and I'll be at the picket line with my colleagues.

HesterLee · 09/11/2022 22:36

At my trust just under half who were eligible to vote did so. Very disappointing. So we have not met the 50% threshold to strike.

borderterrierr · 09/11/2022 22:38

@HesterLee same but lots of my colleagues got their ballots today which is a real shame! It might not be apathy

"Disappointing" that nurses aren't walking out on their patients??

Unless you are bring deliberately obtuse you do realise they are not actually walking out from wards leaving patients to it. 🙄

HesterLee · 09/11/2022 22:57

@borderterrierr that's not good that the ballots were so delayed and so people were not actually able to vote - either way.

BananaSpanner · 09/11/2022 23:00

You can be as 🙄as you like but many people won’t know what it actually will mean in practical terms.

HesterLee · 09/11/2022 23:00

@GemLettuce Disappointing that less than half of the staff balloted returned a vote either way. But I don't know how many of those didn't bother or didn't get the ballot on time.
But yes, I am also disappointed that my trusts nurses will not be allowed the option to strike.

MoreHairyThanScary · 09/11/2022 23:11

I'm in a Lo a cal community interest company- providing community healthcare. We weren't balloted despite the fact that our terms and conditions are in the nhs pay scale.

I will be heading up to the picket lines to show support on my days off.

Mandatorymongoose · 09/11/2022 23:25

My trust was 12 votes short of 50%. So can't take action.

Of the votes cast it was a 10:1 ratio in favour of strike.

Thedogscollar · 09/11/2022 23:39

@BananaSpanner
It's been widely publicised by nurses and union leaders exactly what will happen during the strikes.
Emergency care will NOT be affected. It will be clinics operating lists that will be affected.
I have been in the NHS for over 30 yrs and this has been a long time coming. It is not just a strike for a wage that reflects our skills knowledge and workload. It is so much more than that.
