Who messed up here?

Nursery worker asks agency worker to take some individual photos of the kids while doing activity.
Agency worker does this and saves all the photos on the ipad given.
Nursery worker then can't find the photos on there and asks where they are. It's explained that they were saved. Nursery worker then asks 'But did you save them under each child's name ?' to which the answer was no.
Who should have been embarrassed at their error?

Nobody as it’s not even a deal let alone a big deal….

Bywayofanupdate · 09/11/2022 14:25

Did you explain that they needed to be saved under each child's name?

luxxlisbon · 09/11/2022 14:27

Why should anyone be embarrassed? It was a miscommunication.

dudsville · 09/11/2022 14:30

Neither. This is just a mild miscommunication that has no serious consequences.

Zoomingo · 09/11/2022 14:31

No one should be embarrassed! It's just one of those things. Is someone embarrassed?

girlmom21 · 09/11/2022 14:32

The nursery worker should be embarrassed by the fact they can't find photos on an iPad...

Panda129 · 09/11/2022 14:33

It wasn't explained first no.
Agency worker not familiar with the ipad and how it's used in the room.
There were hundreds of photos of a special event unsaved.

So the photos weren't saved?

Shortname · 09/11/2022 14:34

Not even an issue is it? Agency worker says: no they're saved together here, nursery worker says: thanks, Ill just save them to each child. A fairly average, innocuous work day conversation.

Singlebutmarried · 09/11/2022 14:38

I can’t imagine taking 100s of photos and then saving them under individual names (as an agency worker will they even know ALL the kids names).

sounds massively Laborious. Why not just use a camera and drag and drop multiples at once. You know. Like in the good old days.

You said in the OP they were saved but not individually under the child's name. So were they just in 'photos' rather then a folder or deleted altogether?

Zoomingo · 09/11/2022 14:40

As long as no one had a go at the other one what's the issue

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/11/2022 14:40

In a healthy workplace you'd say oops and save them properly.

In an unhealthy one, everyone is trying to blame someone.

Hotpinkangel19 · 09/11/2022 14:41

No one needs to be embarrassed, it was miscommunication

CherieBabySpliffUp · 09/11/2022 14:42

The nursery worker was at fault for not explaining what they wanted the agency worker to do. Surely the photos are still on the iPad. They just need moving into the correct folders.

Hidingawaytoday · 09/11/2022 14:48

Hundreds of photos unsaved and therefore lost? A shame but not the end of the world. Hundreds of photos saved somewhere but not named? Annoying but not the end of the world.

My dd is in nursery and they send regular photos. Yes I'd be a bit disappointed if they put on a special event/day and they didn't send a couple of pics of dd enjoying it but I'd get over it pretty quickly (within minutes).

Panda129 · 09/11/2022 14:54

They were saved but they do not save unless linked to each child's account.

So they're saved and just need to be linked to each child?

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/11/2022 14:57

Panda129 · 09/11/2022 14:54

This makes no ensue and therefore I think YWBU.

They either are saved, or not.

ChineAndWheeseParty · 09/11/2022 14:58

Have they gone forever, or they're there but just need linking to each child's account?

Either way, it's the nursery worker's fault for not making this requirement clear. The agency worker did as they were told.

TheOrigRights · 09/11/2022 14:59

If the procedure was explained to the agency worker and the AW confirmed they understood, then it is their fault for not doing it correctly.
If the procedure was explained but understanding not confirmed then I'd say both are to blame.
If the procedure was not explained, just assumed then the nursery worker is at fault.

As a parent I would rather the staff spend time with my child than spend ages taking and saving photos anyway.

DinaofCloud9 · 09/11/2022 14:59

I don't think anyone should be embarrassed but I don't think the agency worker has done anything wrong here. The nursery worker hasn't been clear enough.

TheOrigRights · 09/11/2022 15:00

I bet they are somewhere on the iPad - deleted folder?

Mummieslncorporated · 09/11/2022 15:09

It sounds like the agency worker didn't make an error, they did what was asked of them, although I'm getting the impression that the agency worker might not be all that tech savvy, and maybe needs to ask for support to fully understand what needs to be done. I might be wrong.
