To ask you what the name of this type of tableware is?

Does anyone know what the tableware is called (if indeed it's called anything) which is usually blue sort of intricate drawings on the plates?

I know they used to be given as wedding presents years ago and our one posh aunt only brought them out on special occasions. I hated them at the time (about 40 years ago) as they were fussy and I always felt that you couldn't quite see what you were eating lol.

Now however, I've had a change of heart coupled with a touch of nostalgia. I yearn for a simpler time when the fine china was brought out and the chipped mugs were only used by family. But I can't for the life of me know what to google in order to find them! They may been a common style or they may have been a particular brand?

I wonder if my children will feel as nostalgic about our blue Denby Reflex stuff in years to come?

I suspect quality stuff that reminds people of their childhood or of happy times will be very cherished.

The other thing that I love is cutlery lol.
Again I think that it's that my one posh aunt always had very fancy silverware when throwing a party.
I actually bought very expensive Sambonet cutlery. It's stainless steel, not silverware.

I clearly 'have notions'. It's what psychiatrists call 'delusions of grandeur'. 😀

Another wedding gift that my mother was given was a serving dish thing, which had space for two tealights underneath it. They got married 50 years ago. The idea was that you lit the candles underneath to keep the food warm I suppose?

Is it the delft blue design?

My Dad has got some very old antique blue willow that he insists on using but it's really not looking great. I didn't realise that other companies made it, so I've ordered him two new plates. He'll be chuffed to bits.

It made me smile looking at the Eternal Beau - my mum had hundreds of pieces of this at one stage, and was trying to offload it onto my sister and I. We called it Eternal Bleugh.....

I 'collect' china. But not in any method to my madness way- but in a 'I really like that one' way.

based on this trhead I have some old bits I don't like much so will send them to the charity shop for others who may like them and make room for new ones.
