Is it just mine? I’m like who is taking them all this stuff? Flowers, coffees, cakes and things

do you all take gifts to your beauty operatives?

Never ever seen this, ever. I see pictures of nails, lashes and occasionally colour jobs... but never gifts.

Madagascary · 03/11/2022 17:43

“Coffee from my lovely client “

Badgirlriri · 03/11/2022 17:44

I’ve seen this too! Not sure why anyone feels the need when they’re also paying them for their service 🤷🏼‍♀️

Madagascary · 03/11/2022 17:46

They should bloody buy me coffee.

OP posts:
Bumzoo · 03/11/2022 17:46

I think they buy it themselves to guilt others into turning up with gifts.

NoDairyNoProblem · 03/11/2022 17:49

I know a girl who post this every few weeks ‘coffee from my lovely client’, ‘my clients are just the best #flowerfriday’ etc. Only it’s always her best friend 🤨

GoldIsMyBirthMetal · 03/11/2022 17:49

Never seen this, never brought hairdresser a gift!

CourtAppointedHairdresser · 03/11/2022 17:50

Think she’s fishing for gifts.

glamourousindierockandroll · 03/11/2022 17:56

My sister is a beauty therapist and she honestly gets TONS of stuff, especially at Christmas, as well as a bursting tip jar. (I'm not jealous... much!)

interstatelovesong · 03/11/2022 17:59

I am a microblading and semi permanent make up artist and sometimes my clients bring me gifts. Usually flowers to say thank you for their brows, it means absolutely everything to me as it shows how happy they are with what I do for them. <3

Madagascary · 03/11/2022 20:26

Interesting. Plus how do people know what coffee? 😀

They pay you

I get gifts from my clients. But I don’t post about them. It’s rather crass. No one needs to buy me a gift, but when people do it really means so much.
The relationship between me and my clients is unique. You get to hear incredibly personal information, they share things no one else knows. I never breathe a word. I’m in a situation where people confide in me and I never break that trust.
Sometimes having someone to chat to, makes the difference. I don’t expect anyone to understand who isn’t in a job like this.

over the years I’ve had lots of gifts from chocolates to handmade creations.

BoobsAhoy · 03/11/2022 20:53

Lol at creations

Checkmateready · 03/11/2022 20:57

Friend is a beautician and is always being brought gifts…flowers, cakes, chocolates, especially at Christmas and birthday. Even her kids get it.

That is definitely true!

WolvesOfTheCalla · 17/11/2022 15:41

I do, yes. But my hairdresser happens to be my best friend, and my beautician is my sister. So I always text beforehand and ask if they want coffee/a sandwich/chocolate.

HermioneWeasley · 17/11/2022 15:42

I’ve seen this and am equally baffled. I am paying for a service, why would I bring you a gift? I’ve been having my nails done at the same place for 20 years and have never had a single thing for my loyal custom.

MichelleScarn · 17/11/2022 15:46

I see this! one locally posts a table FULL of gift bags, chocolates, wine, other sparkly stuff with a 'ooooo luuuuuvvv my clients who are soooo generous with the gifts' every Christmas! Absolutely crass!!

Bluevelvetsofa · 17/11/2022 15:46

I’m sure it’s mostly friends who buy stuff. I always think, when there are people asking for recommendations on local FB pages, that the ones who respond are the friends and family of the hairdressers/beauticians/ nail technicians etc. It’s the same ones every time and none of them are the ones I’d use. There’s a local hairdresser and I think he and his staff recommend each other.

soberfabulous · 17/11/2022 15:48

I often pick up a Starbucks and a muffin for my hairdresser on my way to her if I'm passing a coffee shop and getting myself one. Usually take nice chocolates at Christmas. My love language is gifting ❤️

That's so lovely

I just had a brow client come for her top up and she bought me a box of chocolates. The other day I had flowers from a different lady

I dunno why some posters are so incensed by this 🤣

xogossipgirlxo · 17/11/2022 16:17

No, my hairdresser doesn't do it. I think they must be friends or very loyal clients. I don't know anyone who does it. We had patients who used to bring sweets etc. to us, staff in dental practice though.
