Is it just mine? I’m like who is taking them all this stuff? Flowers, coffees, cakes and things

do you all take gifts to your beauty operatives?

To be honest it costs more than I can really afford for my nails and hair so I can't start buying presents on top of that. If I had something bespoke done and scary if it went wrong ie micro blading I might. I had some therapy sessions once that were really expensive (went through bupa) and I got her a scented candle on the last one as I was so grateful.

Back in the early 1990s, I was a trainee hairdresser. We honestly used to get loads of gifts at Christmas time, mostly chocolates/biscuits/wine. It was very thoughtful of our clientele and was always appreciated, but I think it's rather crass to post pictures of it on social media.
I also remember on my 18th birthday receiving loads of presents from customers and the same when I left to have my son. It was so nice of them :) To be fair, we were a little salon in a very 'local' area, so, maybe that accounted for some of it, but it was lovely and felt nice to be appreciated. This was at a time when I was earning an absolute pittance, so anything was always a nice bonus.

Can I add that gifts are certainly NOT expected. My clients do gift at Christmas, but it makes no difference to how they are treated.

I take my hairdresser chocolate or cakes during the year because I know he won’t have eaten all day. Again it’s my choice.

I think that unless you are in the industry it’s probably hard to imagine why clients do this. It’s a very personal relationship.

Having said this, I’d NEVER post gifts or have them on display in the salon for others to see. That’s crass and could make others feel uncomfortable.

I do. I take a box of something like Roses or whatever to the hairdressers / nail bar / beauty therapist in December.

Have done for years. I also tip bigger at Christmas too.
