To ask what the government have actually done for this country over twelve years?

I really struggle to see any positives! We've been living in austerity for years and still don't have any money! WTF have they done with all the money and how they hell have they been allowed to run this country into the ground? They complain they don't want unskilled migrants coming into the country but a bunch of unskilled, self serving politicians have been allowed to cause misery for millions over the past decade. Depressing! Please tell me they won't survive another GE.

I think Govs are very influenced by the media so jump to do whatever is hitting the headlines. Hence all the handouts during Covid which we now have to pay for. And more handouts for fuel. How are we going to pay for this. When are we going to pay for this.
Someone is paying for all the rehousing of immigrants regardless of what that will cost the taxpayer. I get that the accommodation is a mess but no one knew that that number of Albanians would all decide to head our way at the same time.

Too many keep-the-rich-rich bastard Tory voters, how much further does the UK need to disintegrate to stop the greedy?

It just needs a few Labour politicians to have some decent policies. They lambast the Tories but go silent when asked how they'd deal with the issues.

UthredofBattenberg · 03/11/2022 19:16

Shhhhhhhh, don't focus on the past 12 years and what theyve been doing in that time. Haven't you heard? They are going to fix the economy and the NHS, Rishi said so. They are going to sort it out NOW, give them a chance, they've only been in power 12 years!

Why the economy and nhs are in such a shit show when they've been in power for the past 12 years, is just mere details. Plus Jeremy Corbyn or something...

Lulanna · 03/11/2022 19:18

Decimated the education system, including removing democratic oversight.
Sold out!

BlueWalnut · 03/11/2022 19:19

What can we do to forcibly rip power away from them? If we have to wait two years for an election, everything will be in a terrible state. They have no mandate for imposing more austerity and even the UN is warning that it could be in breach of our human rights.

UnicornMumcraft · 03/11/2022 19:20

This Blair and Brown?

Sweet fuck all for the ordinary man on the street. Turned their millionaire mates into billionaires.

Girasoli · 03/11/2022 19:21

Shared parental leave started in the Cameron days I think? A few teacher friends used it so they could go back at the start of the academic year and then their husbands stayed home with the babies until Christmas.

That and same sex marriage.

So 2 good things in 12 odd years :(

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 03/11/2022 19:22

The Tories have never really lied about their end game. They’ve always been about free market, small government and low taxes.

They are brilliant at marketing: ‘we’re the party of success! The successful vote for us!’. Most people want to identify as successful…

They've spent the last 12 years dismantling the State, reaping the benefits and laughing up their sleeves at the turkeys who voted for Christmas.

I fucking hate the Tories.

About as much as Labour did under Blair and Brown

Shall I start?

National minimum wage
Good Friday Agreement
Huge investment in health and education
Tax credits
Civil partnerships
Human Rights Act
Devolved power to Scotland and Wales
Cancelling international debt for poorest countries
First climate change act.
Longest period of sustained low inflation since the 60s.
Low mortgage rates.
Over 14,000 more police in England and Wales.
Cut overall crime by 32 per cent.
Record levels of literacy and numeracy in schools.
Young people achieving some of the best ever results at 14, 16, and 18.
Funding for every pupil in England doubled.
Substantive employment is at its highest level ever.
85,000 more nurses.
32,000 more doctors.
Paternity leave of 2 weeks for the first time.

Sirius3030 · 03/11/2022 19:23

They have made quite a lot of people (mostly their friends) very rich.

Sirius3030 · 03/11/2022 19:26

UnicornMumcraft · 03/11/2022 19:20

Yeah, but apart from those things, what have Labour ever done for the country? 😀

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/11/2022 19:27

They've run a very successful and lucrative- for themselves and their friends- illusion show.
Kept the population fighting amongst themselves forvthe dregs while they creamed off the milk and asset stripped the country. It's been robbery on a grand scale.

In my opinion.

balalake · 03/11/2022 19:29

I will accept the Elizabeth line as something completed under this government, who provided some of the funding.

Brexit has not been done, not completed by any means. Ask anyone in Northern Ireland, not just the unionists.

Starrystarrynight456 · 03/11/2022 19:29

@Girasoli I think shared parental leave was pushed by Nick Clegg/the lib dems in the coalition, so possibly only 1 good thing in 12 years!

Everything IS in a terrible state.

supertato32 · 03/11/2022 19:36

@Sirius3030 vast amount of experience with the NHS and in my humble opinion it was run and funded much better under a Labour government than the past twelve years of Tory rule!

notprincehamlet · 03/11/2022 19:36

Increased the numbers of billionaires and children living in poverty? Trashed the reputation of the NHS to reduce resistance when the bits that haven't already been privatised follow suit? Created a welfare system that benefits crap landlords and crap employers? Increased housing insecurity for more people? Decreased social mobility? Rocked the markets so that hedge fund managers think all their Christmasses have come at once? Honestly op, credit where credit's due.

Same. Twenty years in the NHS. I watched it become transformed under Blair’s government then destroyed again. That ridiculous reorganisation that left it worse in 2012 cost millions.

Harainee · 03/11/2022 19:48

They've turned me from someone who could accept other people's political viewpoints, and - as is normal in a democracy - respect the right to vote according to your beliefs and values, into someone who despises the government, and at this point, pretty much hates people who vote Tory.

There's nowhere to hide on this. Vote Tory, and you're KNOWINGLY voting for utterly hateful inequality, cruelty and injustice, and that is fucking unforgivable.

So they're achieved that.

Bramblejoos · 03/11/2022 19:51

Wasn't it after Blair and Brown that the coffers were empty - when the new Cons government got in.
Also they allowed free movement of Easter Europeans which imv caused Brexit.
And they relaxed the drinking laws so you can buy it from supermarkets and drink all night. And relaxed gambling laws to the sad state we have now where it's a serious social problem. Oh, and wan't there a war going on then.........?

DrManhattan · 03/11/2022 19:53

Nothing good. Self serving scum

Freespirit42 · 03/11/2022 19:57

They have convinced some working class people not me that the likes of Boris are the common people. You got cruella now talking if you not a fascist far right than you are woke guardian reader tofu eater. In the times or telegraph they were saying it’s only middle class leftists that disagree. Well I am from the north red wall seat that went blue and I am poor and I am no fascist scum and I am annoyed that they are making us working class fight over the scraps. Sure they made it so poor people look at the foreigners and think that’s not fair but that’s like the tories having ten biscuits keeping hold of nine and making the rest of us fight over one biscuit so some people blame minorities when it’s the fat cats. It pisses me off how so many read the mail or the sun and repeat the mantra

Yes I saw sex pistols program on Disney pistols and Vivienne Westwood designed a t shirt that on one side said hate and the other side love and tory scum was on one side I honestly think about making a t shirt similiar because it’s so annoying
