To ask what type of parent would you be matched with on wife swap

Rewatching some classic wife swap earlier, first time watching when actually a wife/mother myself.

it got me wondering what type of person I’d be matched with to swap.

For those that don’t watch it, families are usually matched based on being polar opposites. Think tiger mum swapped with a mum who hasn’t managed to get her kids into school all year, a woman who has organised their wedding down to the height of the grass and a woman who is planning to get married in a weeks time with no prep.

So I’m wondering, what type of parent/partner do you think you’d be ‘matched’ with. Who would be the ying to your yang?

I wouldn’t risk it. Dh and the dc might want to keep the new wife.

Blueeyedgirl21 · 30/10/2022 00:49

Probably someone who’s really into routines
sorry if we fancy going out for tea and getting back at 8.30pm on a Saturday we will, and dd will have to go to bed an hour later ! Call me irresponsible but she has a lovely time !

TheaBrandt · 30/10/2022 01:02

Dd2 when she was a pre schooler always much preferred my friend and her family my friend said “ooh you are lovely dd2 I will take you home” when they went to leave dd2 hopefully put her shoes on and went to get her coat. My heart broke a little I must admit.

TheaBrandt · 30/10/2022 01:04

My friend is very glamorous and into fashion as is dd2. I have had to up my game

mackthepony · 30/10/2022 01:34

Wasn't there a celebrity one where two couples were lesbians and one couple that was put together drove each other mad cause they were both bossy and demanding but the other couple were both lovely and had a great time together?

Sam Fox & Myra Stratton?

A crunchy, new age-y, hippy dippy mum.

And my blood pressure would probably be through the roof by the end of it.

Oops I might be your swap... 😅

ShandaLear · 30/10/2022 03:44

Lawrence Fox. I’d get stuck in a house with someone like that twat, Lawrence Fox.

FindingMeno · 30/10/2022 04:41

Someone WAGish.
With a bloke who gets their eyebrows shaped.

MightyOaks · 30/10/2022 05:58

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/10/2022 18:24

Someone that is organised and tidy (I’m working on it).

This!!!! 🙋🏼‍♀️

MightyOaks · 30/10/2022 06:00

cavily1806 · 29/10/2022 18:29

Probably exactly the kind of parent I wish I was, rather than the kind I actually am 😕

Genuinely- I expect you're a lot better than you think Flowers

MightyOaks · 30/10/2022 06:03

I'd probably be swapped with someone who had everything silver & grey 'crushed velvet' & furniture made out of mirrors 🤢

FarmerRefuted · 29/10/2022 18:49

Someone who thi ks neurodivergence is all down to shoddy parenting and that if you're strict enough it'll just go away like magic.

It would end up in fisticuffs over the hotel conference room table after I point out that their DC is buckling under the pressure of masking and they tell me that my DC needs a good hiding not a label.

I'd be dragged out by security while screaming "this is why no one likes you, Brenda!"

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

caroleanboneparte · 30/10/2022 08:04

Where can I watch it?

RocketPanda · 30/10/2022 08:14

I'd probably be swapped with a disorganised chaotic household with a useless husband in the middle of a big town. The kids would be allowed to watch 18 rated shows and games and the mum would be social media obsessed, full of drama and always trying to scam money off the state.
Basically my SIL.
Makes me grateful we don't have anything to do with them.

MNchickens · 30/10/2022 08:21

I’d be swapped with someone off benefits Britain whose 13 year old son ‘soldier’ refuses to go to school and has a BB gun

green82 · 30/10/2022 08:39

Haha good question. I guess a SAHM, a crunchy type, with lots of patience, soft voice, child centred, care free with limited structure/no routine, very few rules, home schooler, oh and vegan.

I have no issue with women like this by the way, sure they'd have very happy children, but so far from my own capabilities!

BertieBotts · 30/10/2022 08:45

I think she'd be really strict (I'm a bit minimal on rules and prefer talking/trying to problem solve etc)

Really tidy - I can be a bit of a slob Blush

Routine - I'm more who cares/whatever happens happens whenever and still let my babies cosleep until 1-2 years old Grin

Loads of organised/structured activities - I do interact with the DC but it's much more random/observational/minimal/me being lazy.

So I think she'd be someone who has a really set routine, getting up early to clean/set up the activities for the day, then really organised and on top of the DC, with the whole day being full up with stuff doing with the DC and keeping on top of the house. It would be exhausting! But interesting to see if I could actually keep it up and if it felt more accomplished like I imagine it does - I tend to feel like a bit of a mess/like I'm in survival mode.

How specific!
Brenda sounds like a right cow.

Do we have the same (ex) SIL? 👀

Tayegete · 30/01/2023 11:58

Mine would be a glamorous woman who prioritises spending all her money and effort on making, herself the kids and the house look perfect at all times and who never sits down. To be fair DD would probably prefer her to me 😂. DH might initially as well but he’d definitely irritate her.
