To ask what type of parent would you be matched with on wife swap

Rewatching some classic wife swap earlier, first time watching when actually a wife/mother myself.

it got me wondering what type of person I’d be matched with to swap.

For those that don’t watch it, families are usually matched based on being polar opposites. Think tiger mum swapped with a mum who hasn’t managed to get her kids into school all year, a woman who has organised their wedding down to the height of the grass and a woman who is planning to get married in a weeks time with no prep.

So I’m wondering, what type of parent/partner do you think you’d be ‘matched’ with. Who would be the ying to your yang?

A very strict one, I suppose.

I thought I’d have no issue being firm. Turns out I am terrible at it and my toddler runs rings around me.

TabithaTittlemouse · 29/10/2022 18:24

Someone that is organised and tidy (I’m working on it).

Birdsofafeatherflocktogether · 29/10/2022 18:25

I’d be matched with a stepford wife
i couldn’t be less of one if I tried!

SirMoose · 29/10/2022 18:26

Probably someone off mumsnet 🤣
I don’t fit in here with mist of the parents on here.

cavily1806 · 29/10/2022 18:29

Probably exactly the kind of parent I wish I was, rather than the kind I actually am 😕

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 18:29

Someone with very strict routines that must be stuck to and has a husband she has to treat like one of the children or she has to do it all.
Helicopter parent where school and hobbies are concerned.

WhoooohMatron · 29/10/2022 18:31

I think in order to qualify for WS you had to be extreme in your parenting, either very relaxed or very strict. I don't think average, reasonable people make for good TV! I did love that show, where are you watching it OP?

TheGoogleMum · 29/10/2022 18:32

Someone very tidy and bossy! They'd cook all the meals do all the cleaning and tell everyone what to do.

Wasn't there a celebrity one where two couples were lesbians and one couple that was put together drove each other mad cause they were both bossy and demanding but the other couple were both lovely and had a great time together?

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 18:36

I remember there were Celebrity ones. Some poor soul got that awful racing pundit who called his wife ‘booby’ and he was vile.

Chickpea17 · 29/10/2022 18:36

Someone who is very laid-back with no routine and untidy.

Edwina Currie!

Edwina Currie!

And John Mccririck

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2022 18:43

Hooveslikejagger · 29/10/2022 18:42

And John Mccririck

That’s him! He was horrible. He’s no longer with us.

OriginalUsername3 · 29/10/2022 18:43

Someone who hoovers every day and always puts the washing away straight away. Someone who leaves their child to cry at night.

Changemyname1000x · 29/10/2022 18:45

Someone with a 'everything grey' house

MichonnesBBF · 29/10/2022 18:47

I would be swapped with my sil....no thank you 😊

From what I remember, Booby was also pretty horrible too!

FarmerRefuted · 29/10/2022 18:49

Someone who thi ks neurodivergence is all down to shoddy parenting and that if you're strict enough it'll just go away like magic.

It would end up in fisticuffs over the hotel conference room table after I point out that their DC is buckling under the pressure of masking and they tell me that my DC needs a good hiding not a label.

I'd be dragged out by security while screaming "this is why no one likes you, Brenda!"

Yes it was quite a while ago but I didn’t like either of them much!

TeenDivided · 29/10/2022 18:51

A liberal MNetter who thinks it's fine for 13yos to play 18 rated films, that it's OK for 14yos to have sex and drink as they're nearly 16 anyway, who thinks all 11yos should just be able to organise themselves and do homework / revision without help.

LubaLuca · 29/10/2022 18:52

Probably a hippy type. I'm imagining a vegan, anti-vax, yoga practising homeschooler with no TV.

Squirrelvillage · 29/10/2022 18:52

This is a great question, I'd be matched with someone who lets the children eat loads of junk food and doesn't bother cleaning or tidying up, someone extremely laid back. I'm uptight about eating healthy food, like to live in a clean house, and worry about DC getting hurt or abducted when we are out so always have one eye on them. Probably the person I was matched with would be unemployed as I work FT in a big ass job which is tiring and it would open my eyes to how wonderful life could be if you chill out and don't work!

hiredandsqueak · 29/10/2022 18:52

Probably with somebody who is BFF with their kids, disorganised and without a routine.

The money I’d pay to see that!!

I can imagine ‘this is why no one likes you, Brenda’ Merchandise flying off the shelves!!
