To ask alternatives to Christmas roast dinner

I'm not a huge fan of roasts they also tend to make me feel bloated and sick (no idea why!)

Can anyone give me alternatives for Christmas that are still special but not a full roast - or is this just totally weird and unheard of!

Aibu to ask what you have for Christmas dinner that aren't your normal roast!

We’re having steak, Dolphin nose potatoes and probably a side salad or/and a tub of ‘luxury’ coldsore.

😁😁

Lobster Thermidor and chips. Delish.

This year we are having a BBQ so hopefully it won't rain. Will get something nice for pudding.

We usually have a couple of practice Christmas dinners, I think OH intends to do one with turkey and one with goose. We'll probably be out for dinner a couple of times as well. After reading these I'm going to ask if we can have something lighter on the day, a nice breakfast maybe toasted sandwiches later he can still have his cheese board then later maybe scrambled eggs on toast or something similar. There'll probably just be us, we'll visit the family next day or after.

Last year it was just DH and me and I didn't want to spend loads of time in the kitchen before and after the meal, so I just did a LARGE piece of rolled belly pork and chucked it in the oven when we first got up. Then we munched on that through the day in soft white rolls with loads of apple sauce. Loads left for the following day as well, when we had pork fried rice. The ultimate in lazy cooking 😁

I have a great (and very easy) lemon cheesecake recipe! Make your usual base with crushed digestive biscuits and melted butter, you could do half digestives and half ginger biscuits if you like - lemon and ginger is a great combination! Then mix up two tubs of cream cheese and one tin of sweetened condensed milk with the zest of 3 lemons and the juice of 2 and put on top of the base. Chill. That is it! It makes a LOT so you could have the quantities, or make 2. You can tart it up with swirls of lemon curd and piped whipped cream if you like.... I like it just as it is. It's what I am making to take to my daughter's for Christmas.
