Hello

I am having a nightmare with my hair, I'm pregnant and it's changed so much.

It's thick and wavy but used to be able to straighten it and it felt soft and looked shiny. I used to only wash it twice a week.

Since about 8 weeks pregnant, it's so greasy all of the time and when I wash it and dry it, it feels heavy and like there is a film on top of it that makes it feel damp constantly. It looks so dull. I'm seeing my hairdresser in 4 weeks. I can't afford any pricey items at the moment as payday is next week and as I'm washing it so often now, I'd rather use something I'm able to grab from a supermarket or boots.

Thank you!

Pantene 3in1 is good. About £4 for a massive bottle from home bargains

FarmerRefuted · 28/10/2022 18:37

Hair Food by Garnier. It's got low SLS and high amount of natural ingredients, smells good, and isn't all that pricy. A tub of 3 in 1 conditioner is £3.50 but lasts ages, the shampoo is around £2 a bottle and also lasts ages. It has lots of varieties depending on your hair type, I think either the Aloe Vera one or the Papaya one is for greasy hair (I use the coconut one).

I have thick long hair that gets greasy roots quite quickly. I’m currently using the Aussie mega shampoo and conditioner and my hair feels nice. Also, blow drying my hair quite soon after washing has an impact, if I let it part dry naturally my roots feel grim really quickly.

have a good scrub with head and shoulders once a week - really makes a difference but if I use it more often my hair feels rough

minidancer · 28/10/2022 18:49

There's one called Monday which is really good. In a pink square bottle

Thehop · 28/10/2022 18:51

Amy hairdresser will tel you to avoid Pantene like the plague. It’s pure silicone and will make your hair worse.

find one low or free of spa and sulphates.

just condition the ends.

use dry shampoo for bed not in the day, it works really well overnight and doesn’t drag hair down.

IceMagic · 28/10/2022 18:53

I use child's farm baby shampoo as it doesn't itch my scalp and it doesn't get greasy as quickly. Any conditioner

Edinvillian · 28/10/2022 18:54

Elvive for greasy hair. It's made a difference to my hair.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 28/10/2022 18:54

I’ve been using Monday brand shampoo and conditioner, will probably buy again

historygeek · 28/10/2022 18:56

Aldi do a knock off version of Aussie Miracles. Can't remember what it's called but smells gorgeous and leaves my thick, prone to frizz, hair really smooth.

Squirrelsnut · 28/10/2022 18:56

I'd use a clarifying shampoo once or twice, then use a non-silicone variety. Sounds like you have build-up.

funinthesun19 · 28/10/2022 18:56

Herbal Essences Purify and Hydrate.
It has worked absolute wonders for me.

My hair seems to be a hair product magnet, and everything builds up and weighs it down. It becomes lifeless, dull, dry on the ends and sticky!

But nope, none of that ever happens anymore with my beloved Herbal Essences Purify and Hydrate. It makes my hair so weightless and shiny, and never looks dry either. It really is amazing and I think it could be just what you’re looking for.

This would be my recommendation too. My hair is in much better condition since I've been using this.
Also having a good dry shampoo can be a god send for me sometimes.

ghostyslovesheets · 28/10/2022 18:59

Long, thick hair here - Elvive Hyra, miracle water, and - I also use the Dream Lengths extra conditioning range occasionally - and their leave in cream - wash my hair twice a week - sometimes three times - it's in great condition.

Fiddlersgreen · 28/10/2022 19:00

I like Alberto Balsam tea tree shampoo and conditioner. My hair feels great after using it and it’s really cheap too

TeefAsseblief · 28/10/2022 19:03

I use the Imbue range from super drug.
I've got extremely thick naturally wavy/curly hair.

Pipsickl · 28/10/2022 19:13

I like creightons conditioner

girlfriend44 · 28/10/2022 23:07

Most high Street brands are crap
The best Shampoos are the ones the haidressers sell
Although they are dearer they are better and they last a long time.

Squidsink · 29/10/2022 00:01

I love Revolution’s salicylic shampoo sometimes in sainsburys. Great cleansing but gentle and I think silicon free

saltinesandcoffeecups · 29/10/2022 00:25

It’s a false economy. I tried going with the cheap brands and ended up spending twice as much. Do you have an Aveda salon near you? It’s not cheap, but it works and ends up being less expensive than crappy brands.

mathanxiety · 29/10/2022 00:27

Tresemme. I only use conditioner for my hair, which is curly.

DD4 has long, slightly wavy hair and uses Suave coconut shampoo and conditiiner.

Parney · 29/10/2022 00:27

I've just had DC4 and my hair had been getting me down. Exactly how you've described it OP, almost like product was clinging to it and it was heavy at the roots. I had been using Pantene Classic Clean and was contemplatimg a bob. I've used Dove Intensive Reair, 2 pound in Pound land this week and my hair is so light and styles really well.

whatisthisinmyburger · 29/10/2022 00:29

I use Garnier hair food - the banana one. I have wavy, thick hair and it’s the best one I’ve found after trying more expensive options. It doesn’t weigh my hair down at all and helps with shine and volume.

I don’t pay £6 per bottle though - it’s often on offer in supermarkets etc for £3, I think Sainsbury’s have it on offer right now Smile

Bounceyflounceypouncey · 29/10/2022 00:30

I’m here to second (well, fourth) Garnier hair food.

TicTacFrenzy · 29/10/2022 01:11

The superdrug revive shampoo is an olaplex dupe.
Otherwise garnier hair food.

Pantene is about the worst shampoo a person could use…..terrible for your hair….ask any reputable hairdresser
