Posting for traffic.

How soon did you go home after your C-section? Would you have preferred to go home sooner or stay for longer, and why?

Interested to hear from people who had both ELCS and EMCS.

Thanks.

ELCS and two days later. Would've preferred to get out the following day, staying in hospital was of no benefit. I had no help with baby when DH went home so I was absolutely knackered by the time I did get home.

Elective- 2 nights. Would have preferred to stay in a bit longer but I had no childcare for my 2 year old after 2 nights. If I had to stay in for medical reasons then I could have sorted it though. It seemed quite standard to be sent home after 2 nights from what they said (15 yrs ago)

Technically a 1a emergency section, though it wasn't really - I went in to labour before my elec date with a breech baby and progressed quicker than the Dr expected, resulting in a 1a. They insisted I stayed in 48hrs as per policy but I self discharged at 24 hours when they couldn't give me a reason beyond policy for keeping me in. I could walk, shower etc within 6 hours, and felt great.

I was in 2 nights following my VB and really needed to be in longer. I couldn't get myself to the loo, was losing lots of blood and my blood pressure was very low.

Emergency section: 24hrs. This wasn’t because they wanted to kick me out as I had a private room, I just wanted to go home as the constant noise of other patients’ buzzers kept me awake.

They said I could go if I could take a shower and wee sufficiently twice. I downed a ton of water and was out of there. I was very sore but recovered quickly when back home.

Three nights…ELCS I was desperate to leave and beyond exhausted from no sleep in the wards. Was kept in because of suspected infection in baby. I felt good enough to come home the following day
