Continuation from last thread, for those of us following all the action on Monday.

And yes I'm a LOTR fan, so tried to continue the theme in the thread title 😉

Yes she is. Presumably she's been told to shut up about Indians.

Oh please no. Anywhere apart from the HO. She’ll start dreaming about flights to Rwanda again.

LexMitior · 25/10/2022 16:18

I do agree with Sleepless that it doesn't look too good if Sunak does put her in the Home Office, because it's not a serious appointment based on ability.

SleeplessInEngland · 25/10/2022 16:27

Braverman 'resigned on principle' after breaching security guidelines, so I'm sure if she's offered the same job she'll remind Sunak of that...

Exactly. How will he explain this if he does appoint her? What other position could she get?

LexMitior · 25/10/2022 16:35

Make her leader of the house. That seems to be the preferred position for people who cannot be trusted

Blossomtoes · 25/10/2022 16:36

Chief Whip would work. She’d try to take it literally.

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/10/2022 16:50

Its definitely shaping up to be more of the fucking same.

stuckdownahole · 25/10/2022 16:53

If he does give Braverman home sec it will be at least 50:50 punishment to reward. Very hard job and home secretaries are never popular. Nearly as much of a poisoned chalice as Health.

mrshoho · 25/10/2022 17:00

She's back in as home secretary

SleeplessInEngland · 25/10/2022 17:02

A huge own goal by Sunak. They obviously cut a deal in the race when he ultimately didn’t even need her backing. Claims of him being a ‘serious’ leader can now be put to bed.

CaveMum · 25/10/2022 17:03

Shapps gets Business.

Disappointed about Braverman back in the HO.

Lonelycrab · 25/10/2022 17:04

Cruella Home sec🤬

That’s absurd. He’s not getting off to a great start. I genuinely thought he’d give Mordaunt that, whatever you think of her she’s not a psychopath.

SleeplessInEngland · 25/10/2022 17:05

She’ll keep promising to stop the boats, they won’t stop, she’ll then say all migrants should be executed, they won’t, she’ll end up as unpopular as Patel, and the circus keeps on going.

mrshoho · 25/10/2022 17:07

She's thrown her principles out the window! Got to admire the bare faced cheek she's got!

newnamethanks · 25/10/2022 17:08

That's very bad. Hope she tries to send his Granny to Rwanda and she gets sacked. Terrible appointment. She should be taking some time out for the sake of her health, stop her becoming so overwrought.

LexMitior · 25/10/2022 17:08

I think she is fair bit more dangerous than Patel. No, this is not a comforting appointment.

Agreed, would’ve been better for Sunak to have Mordaunt as home sec. And I’m surprised he didn’t reward her with a Great Office of State job, or an equivalent Cabinet job. I would’ve thought he’d wanted to keep her on side, and she’s obviously capable.

And added to that, there’s the small matter of re-appointing Suella Braverman to a job she basically just resigned from… Maybe he just thinks it makes sense to re-appoint her, for stability and continuity?

stuckdownahole · 25/10/2022 17:10

Braverman back in is a play to the Brexity Red Wall seats.

LexMitior · 25/10/2022 17:12

Braverman is going to have loosen the immigration rules and keep her mouth zipped. Presumably she will be given a minder from No 10 to ensure this happens

SleeplessInEngland · 25/10/2022 17:14

Sunak’s reputation depended on being the leader of serious change. That lasted less than 24 hours.

mrshoho · 25/10/2022 17:16

I wonder if Donelan will be back as Education Secretary? She resigned after 2 days earlier in the year!

Agree

Mordaunt reappointed Leader of the House.
