*Trigger warning* - Rapist not being charged - police only interviewed one witness...?

I was raped orally and vaginally while extremely (extremely) intoxicated. The rapist admitted the 'sex'. The police told me today its not going to the CPS as there is no 'evidence' of my intoxication and they only interviewed one person from the evening who is a friend of the rapist. Please does anyone know of the number of witnesses police should interview? I told them about lots of people and they just pick the guy's ex landlord. What can I do?

So sorry

All I can say is seek expert legal help.

Good luck

Do have a support worker? From rape crisis? I'd talk to them. Or the dsi on your case and ask exactly as you have here.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you

You can have the decision not to charge the suspect reviewed by an independent officer, of equal or senior rank to the original decision maker. I would ask a solicitor to draft a letter on your behalf, raising the points you want reviewed including the witnesses. I've attached the link to the guidance for the Met police as I don't know what police area you live in, but you can Google "victims right to review [local force]" to get your local guidance.

Hi OP,

We are so sorry that this happened.
On the legal board, you may find that there are other MNetters with expertise that could help answer your question, would you like us to move it there for you?

You can have a review at any point - have you spoken to the OIC?
Did you have any witnesses?
Was there any CCTV of you before or after

I'm surmising that there were no witnesses to the actual offence - so the witnesses will be either before or after the offence has taken place and they will be used to gauge the level of intoxication at the time.

Have you had access to the support services available?
