In a small 2 bed flat would gas and electricity combined at £70 be considered high bills?

I pay £400 for a 3 bed semi

What 😯I pay less than £200 for a 5 bed house.

I should have added a single person in the house, one bedroom isn't used and they stay there 4 days a week. Make use of work/gym showers and don't have heating on yet. Make use of cooker/microwave at work and partners washing machine.

It sounds about right OP

Ours is £90!

HailAdrian · 21/10/2022 17:46

No I pay 200

I pay £100 DD a month, summer usage was about £45 a month, £35 electricity and £10 gas. Last month we had the heating on quite a bit so total bill was £70. Electricity usage is almost exactly the same every month. Two bed terrace house with two adults. I’m not shy about putting the heating on as I don’t like being cold and my DD works from home. I’m now £400 in credit, and only been in this house 11 months, so £100 a month might be too much. I am on a fix from last September, got lucky when I moved.

I'm in a 2 bed 2 bath flat and pay about £75pm for gas and electric combined. Light user

Iknowforsure1 · 21/10/2022 17:59

It’s very low.

Redglitter · 21/10/2022 18:02

Sounds right. I'm about that for a 1 bed house. Heating hasn't been on yet this autumn.

AnonWeeMouse · 21/10/2022 18:07

£70 sounds about what I want to target.
I keep my usage as low as I can, that's the key, use less, pay less.

Everything now is a considered use. Not just mindlessly putting the washer in half full or boiling a half kettle for 1 drink or leaving lights and such on. Same as the gas, I keep my boiler off until I want hot water for a bath.

I think a lot of people use the electric and gas without really thinking about it. See people on here saying they do 10 loads of washing a week, use a dishwasher, have the heating on already etc. Too expensive for me.

xyzzyx · 21/10/2022 18:11

Wish mine was that cheap! Mine is £170 p/ month for a 5 bed house. Although we don't have radiators on all the time and they're n low

My DS lives in a one bedroom flat on his own , he only has electricity and it’s £130. He never has the heater on and only cooks using his tiny air fryer.

That cant be right

Omg really! I hope I'm being massively overcharged then I thought that was standard atm!

CountdownCat · 21/10/2022 20:41

I'm in a 2 bed Victorian terrace and currently on the price cap, paying £280 a month

Itsalldramarama · 21/10/2022 21:05

I'm in a small 2 bed semi. There are 2 of us. Our bills are in that region although the standing charge takes them a bit higher.
