Things other people do that irrationally annoy you

What do other people do that makes you really mad even though it really doesn't matter. My mum has made me so cross this morning over something that is meaningless. Logically I know it doesn't matter but I'm fuming. 🤣

The crime? She said that my youngest brother has been with his fiancé longer than I've been with my husband. I started dating my husband before he started school and got married just as he started secondary school so it isn't like she's slightly out. See, doesn't matter and yet grrrr.

Also middle brother announced his engagement at oldest brothers engagement party. Oldest brother and his wife are the most chilled people you have ever met (unlike me clearly) so didn't seem to mind but I was furious as it's such bad form.

Also the cat is a dick. She has several water bowls and fountains but won't use them. Put a mug of water down someone and her head is straight in there. We've taken to leaving water mugs in various places (which inevitable end up getting spilled) and drinking out of lidded travels cups.

People that start asking me if I’m getting ready for Christmas in November those people can get fucked .
my colleague who is a complete people pleaser and actually a bit of a arse kisser . Honestly I could say I’m spending my weekend in a a tent in a wet field and she’d be saying oh lovely really enthusiastically like I just said I was off to the Maldives .then I get a zillion questions about it when most people just ask did you have a good weekend then leave it at that ,It gives me the rage when I know she’s being nice .
my cat for just being a bloody nuisance now she’s old she forgets she’s been fed and refuses to go outside now it’s cold .
meh it’s Monday and I’m grumpy!

Perhaps your colleague does it to wind you and everyone else up. I used to ask my most miserable colleague about his weekend knowing that his long and ponderous replies about the most minor mishaps (well it didn’t really go as I expected etc) drove everyone bonkers.

Anyone who sneezes more than 3 times in a row gives me the rage and I don't know why.
My cats who take a dump the moment I have cleaned the litter tray. Also kids wanting to poop when I'm in the bath, even though they could use the bathroom downstairs. My other half drives me mad when he leaves a cupboard door half open, leaves his shoes anywhere and also the way he says Scotland, his mum says it the same way and it winds me up.

2ndMrsdeWinter · 07/11/2022 22:20

Belching when talking. I’m not talking huge burps, just the ones that sound like hiccups.

Yawning

Sneezing

Throat clearing

Coughing

I’m aware I’m bu but I can’t stand any of them.

petridishmystery · 07/11/2022 22:37

At my work we run a Matter Close report. This brings up all matters that have no WIP or debt on them and so can be closed. I will send this to people and say here is your matter close report, can we close any of these?

and they will come back and say “if there is no WIP or debt, these ones can be closed”

THAT IS THE POINT OF THE REPORT THEY WOULDN’T BE ON THERE OTHERWISE

it’s such a stupid thing to be annoyed by and I barely even noticed it at first but after years it annoys me more and more

MaggieMagpie357 · 08/11/2022 07:33

@Lorddenning1 we would definitely not be friends - my body seems incapable of doing less than 5 sneezes at a time. It's usually nearer 8/10 tbh. Soz!

Sweetpea1532 · 08/11/2022 17:16

Explanation for people not being able to 'see' items in a cabinet...
It maybe be caused by 'object blindness' . It's a real thing...DD has it.

Jesus, that's harsh. I can assure you (as a hayfever sufferer who frequently has sneezing attacks lasting much more than 3 sneezes) that we don't do it deliberately, and as irritating as you find it, it's 20 times worse for the person sneezing.

@Lorddenning1

'Jesus that's harsh!'

There is nothing harsh about someone saying they find loud sneezers irritating. People are posting opinions about things that people do that annoy them, on a thread designed purely for that. Confused

Get a grip.

That isn’t harsh!! If they’d said ‘I love to shove a cork up their noses’ then you may have a point.

Lorddenning1 · 08/11/2022 20:04

@SillySausage81

I thought this thread was asking what irrationally annoys you, well that is mine. It's irrational and not they're fault but it riles me after the 3rd sneeze. It's not harsh as my partner does it all the time and I'm marrying him next year Wink

Speak roughly to your little boy
And beat him when he sneezes.
He only does it to annoy
Because he knows it teases.

(Sorry, couldn't resist!)

Lorddenning1 · 08/11/2022 20:21

Can someone sneeze on purpose 🤔
Wouldn't put it past him

I speak roughly to my little boy
And beat him when he sneezes
For he can thoroughly enjoy
The pepper when he pleases

Elf on the Shelf

Yes, knock it down and it is elf on the ground! lol😈

Igglepiggleslittletoe · 13/11/2022 12:13

Stay in bed till 12noon. My DP doing it especially.

Irrational as we do not live together and it does not affect my life in any way shape or form today but today it has annoyed me.

Why ask if your not interested ? Also when its just a quick not much just the pub then it’s millions of questions which pub etc etc . Honestly if you do it to wind people up I’d get a hobby.

I just thought it might help if you can believe she’s not trying to be nice.

Iamtheonwandlonely · 14/11/2022 20:47

Hypocrites.
You know the kind.
I can do what I like but I'll look down on you for doing the same.

When my husband uses the soup mugs. Especially the mushroom soup mug.

They are mine - I brought them with me when we moved in together - but I hate them - they irritate me loads and to use them is even worse.

I KNOW it's irrational and completely unreasonable but every time he heats up soup and puts it in there I want to kill him!

... apart from that he's great!

At work - people who think it's okay to leave their bowl of half eaten cereal in the communal kitchen because "somebody" will wash it and put it away.

Omg can I have your soup mugs 🤣🤣🤣

ALongHardWinter · 14/11/2022 23:04

This happens to me practically every time I sit down to wait at a bus stop. Someone else will come along and position themselves directly in front of me, totally blocking my view of being able to see when the bus appears. They have yards of pavement to stand on,but they have to stand right in my line of vision,so I have to keep craning my neck to see round them. Drives me nuts!

CluelessHamster · 14/11/2022 23:40

People faffing about taking ages to reverse into a tiny space in the multi storey car park at work, holding up a queue of people when, if they went up a floor, they would find loads of empty spaces (and be able to park closer to the lifts!)
