I just had my fourth (and final!) baby 8 months ago and I’m nearly finished weaning him off the breast.

I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been (74kg and I’m 5”1. Was 52kg pre-kids) and I HAVE to wear Spanx every day bc I have a huge tire / hip dips / muffin top situation and clothes look terrible otherwise. Even then, I’m extremely limited in what looks flattering. Maybe 1 in every 20 outfits look good if I’m lucky…

I’ve been looking into Aqualyx fat reducing injections as well as Coolsculpting. Hubby says I should wait a year and try to lose weight naturally first but I’m desperate to have something done asap to get the ball rolling. AIBU??

Being this weight doesn’t suit me at all and I’m so uncomfortable in my own skin and can’t fit into 90% of my clothes. It doesn’t help that all my good friends happen to be the skinniest they’ve ever been, including my friend who was always bigger than me since childhood. And even Adele too 🤪

Would really appreciate getting some perspective on this please 🙏

Ohhh sorry saw your update r.e. rating disorder. I do intermittent fasting too and Dr Mosley's book is great and a good way to think about things.

Ah thanks I’ve just had a quick Google do you mean “just one thing” or “the fast diet”?

Why don't you join the next Low Carb Bootcamp? It starts on Monday. No counting of anything, just ten rules to follow.

The prep thread is here

Motheronamission · 15/10/2022 17:22

Oh no! Was that the only area you did it on? Was there any improvement at all? How many treatments did you have?

One freeze costing £250 and 6 cavitation costing £300 .... so £550

No difference at all

Oh gosh ok thanks! Did it work on your double chin at least??

Yes very much so but it's not "sculptured" as I'd like!

To be fair, I had 3 rounds at £600 a pop in Harley St, in hindsight I really should have just had surgery if I'm honest to properly lift and sculptures!

It's was awkward, painful, so swollen, had to massage it every day, 5 times a day or more, kids running at me and slamming in to me bought me to tears!!

Please do the hard slog first, lose the weight properly, keep it off and use this sort of stuff for the stubborn little pockets of fat!!

Aqualyx is not a weight loss solution!!

Just had a look at the thread! Love it. I’m still breastfeeding though and DS has a dairy intolerance so I can’t eat dairy 🙈 he will be fully weaned within a month though so maybe I’ll join late??

Hard to hear bc I was so hopeful about it but really appreciate hearing your experience and advice. It’s helping me come to terms with the work I’ve got cut out in front of me. I’m just so miserable and desperate. Sigh

@Motheronamission If you're still breastfeeding you can still do Bootcamp - you just start on Bootcamp Light.

And there's no rule that says you have to eat dairy! In fact lots of people find that dairy impedes weight loss anyway.

Honestly, I'm 42 and have been on every diet going since the age of 14!!

IM SO FUUUUCCCCKED OOOOFFFF WITH IT ALL!!!

The only thing that honestly works is calorie counting and exercise and not eating the calories back!!
And boy, does it piss me off sometimes!!
I want to scream sometimes that my wonderful DH, who is really supportive of all my "that's it! New diet" crap, eats a bag of chips, looses weight and all I did was look at the fucking bag of chips and my eyes seem to absorb the calories!!!

Arrrrrggghhhhh!!

Healthy eating, calorie counting using my fitness pal, honesty with yourself on what you're eating, exercise!!

🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

CornedBeef451 · 15/10/2022 19:37

You're only 11 1/2 stone? I thought you were going to be 20+.

It's not that bad, but bigger clothes do you feel you look better now and then try eating healthily, it might come off now you've stopped having babies.

I've always been overweight so I'm at the point where I'd love to be your weight, I'd feel positively skinny!

Ah sorry yes I can see that the thread title might be misleading 🙈 it’s all relative! As long as you’re happy and comfortable in your own skin. My mum is a stone heavier than me and looks incredible because she has gorgeous cheekbones and jawline, as well as very broad shoulders so everything fits her proportionately and looks amazing on her. This weight just doesn’t suit me!

Funny thing is, I do eat very healthily already. I honestly think it’s the breastfeeding for me that somehow not only makes me have a large appetite but also seems to make my body hang onto every calorie. My baby is super pudgy so I feel like I’ve been producing heavy cream breast milk 🤪

I’m hoping once I finish breastfeeding it will start coming off! 🤞 I’m just so impatient!

Friend had to prepare for gastric band surgery by drinking those shakes for two weeks before hand and nothing else. She lost over a stone. Would that inspire you. She felt very energetic too

I like the 'fast diet' book. It's interesting and really helped change my mind set. I NEVER read books like this but it was good!!!

CornedBeef451 · 15/10/2022 21:40

@Motheronamission I'm sure you don't look as bad as you think but if you had an eating disorder previously and have skinny friends it must be difficult to handle.

I'm not happy with my size and don't carry it well but, like 95% of people, every time I diet I end up bigger.

Babies do just mess up your body. Congratulations on your four babies and your amazing milk production!

You might find things settle down as you'll still be coursing with hormones at the moment. It might help to think about how amazing your body is, it's grown four entire humans and fed them, it deserves a break before you force it back into compliance.

I'm by afraid there's no quick fix or I wouldn't be the size I am.

That is beautiful and so true! I really should.

Btw there is an excellent book called “Why we eat (too much)” by Andrew Jenkinson and describes the exact phenomenon you’re describing (every time diet end up bigger).

I don’t know if it’s because of the eating disorder or whether because I grew up watching my mum yoyo diet, but I really don’t do diets. Everything I do eat / make for my family is just healthy. Detoxes are different though, which is why I wouldn’t mind doing shakes, juice cleanse or soup cleanse for a few days to give my digestive system a break, as long as that “I’m starving!!” mechanism doesn’t kick in. Andrew goes into more detail on this and why it’s bad.

If you do end up reading it would love to hear your thoughts

Motheronamission · 16/10/2022 03:23

Intermittent fasting is also an exception- Andrew touches on it in his book and so does Tim Spector (“the diet myth” which is a dense read but interesting and I think also in “spoon fed”). Excited to read Mosleys book on this, had seen it before but wasn’t sure if it was good!

@Motheronamission I've actually read Why we eat too much and am re reading it now.

I lost almost 2 stone following his advice and managed to keep it off for about 6 months which is much, much longer than usual but then my brother died, the emotional eating kicked in and I ate everything I could get my hands on!

I am re reading the book and I've got a couple of Tim Spector's on my kindle, I'm trying to get back into the headspace to change things again.

Ah ok amazing! We’re you happy with the surgeon you used? Did you consider laser lipo? Just wondering between the two if I do want to go down the lipo route

I did laser lipo with fat transfer I used centre for surgery in Baker Street in london, you can have a look at their website it gives you full details of the type of lipo they do it’s like a smart lipo so the surrounding tissues arnt damaged as it doesn’t use heat to melt the fat as it’s better for the fat for fat transfer , I’m thrilled with my results couldn’t be happier I did a lot of research into my surgeon I only went so far away as I wanted the bbl fat transfer and london seems to be the only place in the uk that does it. There are loads of good just lipo doctors across the uk though I had a really good one local to me but I wanted the bbl part so had to travel, I didn’t really rate the clinic the anthesilogist team were excellent thou but the nurses I found were crap no beside manner, I went there for the surgeon and that was what was most important to me. It gives you a real kick start to having a good body back I’ve been eating the same and staying at a stable weight I would of never naturally got the shape I got from exercise alone, my issue was just fat accumulated in the areas I didn’t want from pregnancy I’m still the same weight minus a few pounds I just have a much better body shape.

No more than any other medication!
