I just had my fourth (and final!) baby 8 months ago and I’m nearly finished weaning him off the breast.

I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been (74kg and I’m 5”1. Was 52kg pre-kids) and I HAVE to wear Spanx every day bc I have a huge tire / hip dips / muffin top situation and clothes look terrible otherwise. Even then, I’m extremely limited in what looks flattering. Maybe 1 in every 20 outfits look good if I’m lucky…

I’ve been looking into Aqualyx fat reducing injections as well as Coolsculpting. Hubby says I should wait a year and try to lose weight naturally first but I’m desperate to have something done asap to get the ball rolling. AIBU??

Being this weight doesn’t suit me at all and I’m so uncomfortable in my own skin and can’t fit into 90% of my clothes. It doesn’t help that all my good friends happen to be the skinniest they’ve ever been, including my friend who was always bigger than me since childhood. And even Adele too 🤪

Would really appreciate getting some perspective on this please 🙏

Saxenda costs me £144 for 3 pens

I stick to a low dose to keep hunger away but costs down. Pens last a couple of weeks each that way.

I find the smallest dose works incredibly well for me.

Side effects....mild nausea in the beginning. Hunger disappears so I forget to eat. You can barely eat a full portion so waste can be an issue

ThatGirlInACountrySong · 15/10/2022 11:43

Saxenda only works if you are using a calorie controlled diet alongside

There's plenty of women on tiktok with accounts if you want to go for a nosey

MsTSwift · 15/10/2022 11:47

Intermittent fasting 16/8 and up your cardio. Meals on smaller plates cut the crap snacks. Got my bmi from 27 to 23 and maintained for 3 years now. Eat the same just less of it!

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 15/10/2022 12:30

Coolsculpting is not for weight loss; it's for treating small pockets of fat on people with healthy BMI.

There is no easy fix. 80 percent of weight loss is calorie control.

Youdoyoutoday · 15/10/2022 13:18

You need to lose weight properly then use the comestic stuff for the final stubborn areas!
Plus aqualyx is really painful, I had it done on my double chin and it hurts so much every day for ages! Plus it's so expensive 😱

iRun2eatCake · 14/10/2022 14:51

Nope... it's still there. It's like saddle bags on my outer thighs.

3D-Fat Freeze

Stubborn pockets and body sculpting. Treat stubborn areas such as inner thighs, lower abdomen and ‘muffin tops’

Commonly known as Cryolipolysis, Cryotherapy or Cool Sculpting, 3D-Fat Freeze

3D-Cavitation

Overall fat reduction. Treat larger areas of fat such as the abdomen, thighs and ‘muffin tops’

Cavitation uses ultrasound waves to break down fat cells that are then metabolised by the body.

Oh no! Was that the only area you did it on? Was there any improvement at all? How many treatments did you have?

Also my husband works away so I was doing it on my own and I did cope.

Ah ok amazing! We’re you happy with the surgeon you used? Did you consider laser lipo? Just wondering between the two if I do want to go down the lipo route

I haven’t read the full thread, but I’ve been low carb/low sugar since May, stuck to 1800 calories and I’m almost 3 stone down. Diet and exercise works!

Let me tell you how to lose weight easily OP. I was recently 77kg. I decided to eat for maxiumum nutrition at every meal because I wanted more energy. (felt very run down). So each mealtime my first question was how many vitamins each food item had? Nothing was off limits, so I didn't tell myself no cake etc. Losing weight was never my wish at that time. Well I nearly fell off my chair to find out I'd lost 8lbs in the first month without even trying. And this was whilst eating to my fill at each meal. Now I've started & seen the side effect, I'm going to carry on.

Love this. Did you Google each food individually to figure out what vitamins or is there an app?

Cosmetic surgery is a waste of time if you don't fix the route cause, which is consuming more calories than your body uses in a day (calorie surplus)

Diet first before surgery, change your rating habits and establish new routines, exercise often and eat well. Work out your basal metabolic rate and eat 500 calories less per day, aim to get 10000 steps a day and 20-30 mins of exercise in and you will easily lose 1.5-2lbs a week, adjust calorie intake as you lose weight.

I know this works for many but as I had an eating disorder when I was young I really can’t go down the calorie counting route! I do have great habits though and are active but I hear you I could take it up a notch. My baby’s so full on though, literally needs bottles, breastfeeding or food every 2 hours!

Isn't Saxenda the one that has the cancer risk?

Why did you need to bring your friend into this?

yes I’d feel bad about my body anyway, but she makes me feel worse! She’s at her skinniest she’s ever been and always makes comments like she looks down on anyone bigger than her now. It gets to me, and I was venting.

You need to lose weight first then do the cosmetic contour stuff later , you could do sax injections or endogastric sleeve. I've lost a lot of weight I'm below my target and I'm going for body contour surgery in November.

You need to stop this I was the fat friend now my friend is fuming because I'm smaller than her. She always used to make comments to me about me being bigger now she says stuff like your boobs are smaller. It's not healthy just stop talking about your weight to eachother.

The fat loss injections don't work on everybody and they can be extremely painful. They also can't reduce fat by much, at all. They might have some effect on a double chin but certainly not on love handles. They can probably disolve literally a couple of grams of fat at best.

Cool sculpting is expensive and doesn't work particularly well. It is best suited to somebody who is trying to spot reduce. Again a double chin or other small pockets of fat on an otherwise athletic build, such as the stubborn area below the belly button etc. Again I'm talking a few grams of fat loss.

The only way is dieting I'm afraid. I know it's not what you want to hear. Keep in mind dieting is also relatively safe but reactions to the injections and cool sculpting are possible.

Thanks yep 🙈 I am trying to reduce overall weight but I also do want to spot reduce my tire/ muffin top. By any chance do you work in the industry? Would love to hear more about what you’ve seen - best case scenarios and how often people react badly

Thanks but I have to avoid counting bc I used to have an eating disorder! Ideally just need to lose my appetite which is what has always happened when I’ve been at my thinnest & happiest (with no eating disorder)

Calorie counting for me has been amazing! 3 stone down in 4 months. A real lifestyle change and enjoying little workouts at home once kids are in bed. Definitely try dieting first. You have to retrial your brain- a quick fix would probably mean putting on all the weight again at some point.
