Aibu to reject the suggestion that this summers leavers sing Puff the Magic Dragon?

Not least because of the drug reference, but because the parents will weep?

At my school we had a special finishing school song:

End of the term
End of the year
It's time to say:
Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye

Then the year 6s had a verse:
We are moving on
Next year we'll be gone
<can't remember the rest, something like. "We'll miss you, but you stay here. You'll be back again next year">

Followed by everyone else:
You aren't going far
Come and tell us how you are
So thank you, you've helped us so
We don't want to see you go...

I've never seen it anywhere else so I wonder if one of the teachers made it up. Anyone else know it?
I remember singing it to Mum and her looking completely horrified and saying "are they trying to make everyone cry?" I was somewhat bemused because I thought moving on was exciting. Grin
