Do you get undressed in front of your partner?

On Loose Women today, Linda Robinson said she's never got undressed in front of her husband. She goes into the bathroom to put on her pjs.

What!?! This is crazy to me. Made me wonder if anyone else feels the same as Linda?

Linda's reason was because of her strict catholic upbringing.

Not only do we get undressed infront of each other, we go to the toilet whilst the other one is in the bathroom, have wiped each other’s arses/inserted suppositories.

my husbands body is an extension of my own and he says the same

For many people the act of undressing (whilst someone observes) is seen as more 'personal/exposing' than actually being naked. It always amuses me when you go for a smear or breast examination etc and you are instructed to undress away from eyes and 'present' yourself when you're ready.
Tbh I don't like being 'watched' doing anything (or nothing) really.
Does it make a difference too how body confident you are? A wife that has aged together over 30+ years would likely feel differenctly to a 50 year old woman 6vmonths into a new relationship despite look8ng similar. I'm also sure 'Catholic guilt' still exists

BubziOwl · 01/03/2023 14:17

Yes @JudgeRudy I agree it's the act of undressing that makes me feel uncomfortable! It's not a very graceful thing, unless you're you know, deliberately doing a striptease or something. I do tend to get dressed/undressed alone (unless it's a pre-sex thing lol), but I have no issue with my husband actually seeing me naked.

overjean · 01/03/2023 14:22

I don't. I'm really self conscious plus our marriage isn't great. If he gets undressed in front of me i’d busy myself with my phone or leave the room.

Yes, we are comfortable with each other.

We used to sleep naked before kiddos were born, but not possible anymore.

Why can you no longer sleep naked? Do you co-sleep? My husband and I have always slept naked, kids or not. The only time we don't is if we're sharing a room at a hotel for example.

Sex and getting dressed/undressed are totally different things. You aren't horny when getting dressed so more self conscious.

Hopefully you're not self conscious in front of your partner though.

Siameasy · 01/03/2023 16:40

Yeah very often. He loves it and chases me about 😂

girlmumma2019 · 01/03/2023 16:55

Yes, 15 years together and always have. He even helped me shower and re dress after I gave birth which wasn't a pretty sight 🤷‍♀️

Pseudonamed · 01/03/2023 17:06

Usually he takes it off for me but no we neither of us wear anything in bed and no problem getting dressed or undressed in front of one another.

ShinyMe · 01/03/2023 17:17

I get undressed in front of my cat, and recently he gets embarrassed and averts his eyes.

Stressfordays · 01/03/2023 17:20

I'm single but have never had an issue getting dressed/undressed in front of someone I've had sex with. I even get changed in front of people at work (we get in and out of uniform at the start/end of the shift).

Noicant · 01/03/2023 17:26

Yup, he’s like part of the furniture and I sleep in knickers. Only time either of us wear pj’s is illness or extreme cold.

JorisBonson · 01/03/2023 17:31

Yeah, every night. DH enjoys making a dance out of it 🤣

Bluelightbaby · 01/03/2023 17:31

I not only undress in front of him but wee with the door open, put tampons in and change sanitary things, we often shower together and wash each other - I couldn’t care less tbh

TurnipSurprise · 01/03/2023 17:36

There are no boundaries at all between us, I have helped him wipe his ass post surgery so would seem strange to be coy now.

redwoodtree · 01/03/2023 17:38

Yes if he’s in the room and I’m getting ready for bed. Our bathroom is further away so I’d get undressed there if I needed a shower, but if for some reason he was in the bathroom when I was going for a shower then I wouldn’t think twice about undressing in front of him.

Sugarfish · 01/03/2023 17:43

I don’t most days, I’m basically one of those never nudes. Prefer doing it in the bathroom without feeling eyes on me. I actually like how I look naked as well so it’s not a self conscious thing. On the rare occasions I do undress in front of him he always feels the need to comment or make a stupid wolf whistle or something. It really annoys me. Getting undressed in front of him for sex when we’re in the moment is totally different but I don’t want to be made to feel like a piece of meat if I’m shattered or stressed because I’m running late for work! He thinks it’s a compliment though 🙄

KimberleyClark · 01/03/2023 17:43

Yes we do.

I have read about women whose husbands have never seen them without makeup. Surely that can’t be true?

bloodywhitecat · 01/03/2023 17:46

I used to feel very uncomfortable undressing in front of my ex-husband, he would always make me feel he was leering. My late husband was a very different man and I had no problems being naked in front of him.

troppibambini6 · 01/03/2023 17:47

Not any more. He told me he didn't fancy me since I put weight on (I've gone from a 10/12 to a 12/14 after 4 kids)
Kind of made me feel self conscious now.

derbylass81 · 01/03/2023 17:48

No, in private.

Partly not happy with my weight / appearance.

Partly due to particularly lecherous ex who made me feel horribly uncomfortable.

I've been with DP for years and years but the lecherous ex was when I was 16-18 and it's just a habit that's stayed with me since.

Sorry he said that. I’ll hazard a guess that he’s not an Adonis either.

You know it’s him, not you, I hope?
