To be concerned by these symptoms?

These symptoms started suddenly about 6 days ago. I don't know if all of them are connected.

Number 1 (probably not relevant) - I have been having really, really vivid and life like dreams that I struggle to tell the difference between whether it's something that's actually happened or just a dream.

Number 2 - my speech is not how it usually is. I am struggling to find the words I want and am stuttering. For instance, my mind thinks 'when are we going for dinner?' I will say, 'when are we going for garage' completely random. Happening at least every hour. Stuttering as well when I've never struggled with that.

Number 3 - my right arm has started getting pins and needles, not constantly but at least twice a day, even if I'm moving around (so not when I wake up in the morning and have slept on it funny).

Cognitive thinking all normal, feel tired but that is usual for me due to type 2 diabetes. I am overweight but not morbidly so. I am a 30 year old woman.

AIBU to worry about these symptoms all together?

Can't believe I missed number 4 - a little unsteady on my feet/dizziness. Not so bad that I'm falling over but more stumbly that usual.

I have zero medical training but, yes, I'd be concerned if I had those symptoms. Hopefully someone more knowledgable be come and advise the best next step, hope it's nothing serious.

Riverlee · 09/10/2022 17:46

Call 111 and discuss the symptoms with them.

I am going to contact my GP tomorrow, was just looking for opinions. I can't get to hospital tonight, I have no transport so would rather see GP.

Please see a medical professional urgently. These are all symptoms I had after I had a stroke. Whilst my stroke was obvious it's possible you could have had something less obvious like a TIA whilst you slept

Tigofigo · 09/10/2022 17:51

Sounds like a mini stroke / TIA. Have you had any weird midline feelings or pains?

Sorry for sounding stupid, do you mean like abdomen pain or something?

Please call 111 and don’t wait until morning for this.

PinkButtercups · 09/10/2022 17:58

Yes contact someone.
There was a thread not long ago and the poster had exact same symptoms. I think it was in chat
or general health. Try and search it. Not sure how the OP got on.

Hotpinkangel19 · 09/10/2022 18:00

Definitely would make me suspect a stroke or a tia. I'd get checked today.

Darkstar4855 · 09/10/2022 18:00

Number two and number four definitely need checking out. As PP says they can be stroke symptoms. It’s not a TIA as it has lasted for so long. I would agree that 111 is the best option, they will probably send you into hospital for an urgent CT scan.

merrymerrymonthofmay · 09/10/2022 18:01

Okay, I will phone 111. It's my daughters birthday today so really don't want to go up and hate making a fuss, worried they will think I'm being a drama Queen at the hospital but it's the sensible thing to do so I'll phone.

This is something that needs urgently checked, sounds like it could possibly be a stroke or certainly something neurological. U need to get medical advice immediately.

LividLaVidaLoca · 09/10/2022 18:08

Some of these could be thyroid symptoms.

mamabear715 · 09/10/2022 18:09

Good luck @merrymerrymonthofmay Hope you soon feel better.

missbipolar · 09/10/2022 18:09

You need to be seen ideally sooner rather then later it definitely sounds neuro- possibly a tia

33goingon64 · 09/10/2022 18:48

In my experience 111 will just tell you to go to A&E.

legophoenix · 09/10/2022 18:52

Could be stress related, diabetes related, could be a stroke/brain tumour etc. Obviously none of us can diagnose you, even people who are medically trained. Your only option is to see your GP or call 111.
If it's been going on for 6 days has it been getting gradually worse to the point it's worried you today, or have you just been putting it off?

Fingers crossed for a good outcome/recovery 💐

fuckfuckfuck2021 · 09/10/2022 18:56

I would definitely see the GP and get a referral for a CT scan or MRI. All of your symptoms that you have described is exactly how a family member presented with a Brain Tumour.

lovelilies · 09/10/2022 19:08

I'd go to A&E with those especially with the rosk factor of diabetes.
Possible stroke which is life threatening

yellowbananasss · 09/10/2022 19:13

The left side of your brain controls language and the motor function of the right side of the body.

You're making language errors (dinner > garage) and stuttering is likely apraxia of speech in the absence of a known stutter for many years and your right side changes in sensation would make me think about a stroke or something neurological occurring.

Are the symptoms getting worse, better or coming and going over the 6 days? You def need to get medical advice.

Montague22 · 09/10/2022 19:17

My first thought was also TIA get seen as soon as possible. You can totally recover from these but they can be a warning sign of a proper stroke.

Everafter20 · 09/10/2022 19:21

I would make a gp appointment urgently. It sounds a bit like ms symptoms but could be lots of different things and needs checked. Wishing you all the best x

Em3978 · 09/10/2022 19:43

My mum had similar symptoms and ended up diagnosed with Gluten Ataxia; her cerebellum (controls balance, coordination, speech and swallowing) was being attacked by anitbodies caused by eating gluten!
Weird, but managable in her case with a gluten free diet.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 09/10/2022 20:24

My mum had #2, they assumed mini strokes, it was terminal brain cancer.
