I have to admit 'alot' really jars me. I know some people cannot help poor spelling/poor grammar etc, and it doesn't make me any better than them because mine is correct most of the time, but it doesn't alter the fact that it jars me. I have seen it a few times lately - even in the titles of threads!
I also hate 'tennant,' when referring to a tenant of a home.
And I 'brought' a sandwich, instead of bought.
And I 'borrowed' him some money, instead of lent.
'Chest of draws,' instead of chest of drawers.
It is NOT regional. It is bad grammar and bad spelling. Like putting 'loose' instead of lose, 'defiantly,' instead of definitely, and 'I no' instead of I know, and 'discusting 'instead of disgusting. 'Discusting' is not even a word. Surely spell-check tells them it's wrong?!
These are not typos either. We all get them sometimes. This is plain and simple bad spelling, and grammatical errors.
