This has come up on my Facebook ads. I'm shocked. How can you buy a gun to pierce ears yourself? Is it me or is that terrible

To be honest this is surely no worse than going to get your ears pierced at Claires Accessories?!

I would never use this, or Claire's, but there will be a market for it (as demonstrated by the several thousand feedback scores) and to be honest if it was this or Claire's I'd choose this as I'd have more control over the shit show 😂

I used Claire's years ago and had absolutely no problems, I remember watching the girl clean everything beforehand etc. It wouldn't be for me to do it myself but most things can be bought so why not these I suppose.

I've also had mine done at Claire's but surely doing it yourself is a mistake. What if you align them wrong

Same. And did tattoos with a needle nicked from home eccy and Indian ink nicked from art in the girls toilets age 12. You can buy anything. Ear piercing guns, tattoo guns, belly button piercing needles etc. I’m not shocked.

I pierced my 2nd and 3rd hole with these and it's really easy. Doesn't hurt at all. As long as you take hygiene precautions like disinfecting your ear and washing your hands, it's not really a problem. The earring does the piercing, the same way as a gun.

Administering my B12 injections is far more fiddly and more painful.

Its amazing what is legal to buy but really shouldn't be.

As an aside both DD had their ears pierced at Claires, no problem. One DD (hole grew over) went to a proper tattoo piercing place and ended up with blood running down her neck which didn't stop for an hour. They couldn't give a toss about her. It all depends on who does it, not where.

I don't see why it shouldn't be on sale. Though for 6 quid I wouldn't expect it to pierce anything 😂 just fall apart while taking it out of packaging

Not only does it seem unsafe how ridiculous to have disposable plastic to facilitate it. We should be reducing disposable one use plastics.

Did you find doing them yourself easy or is it better to get someone to do it for you do you think?

I was thinking of getting a third but might just buy one of these instead.

misses point of thread entirely

What if you align them wrong

Then you end up with wonky earrings. I don't think we need to stop selling them for that.

My friend held a cold can of cola to
my ear and then shoved a stud through it, in the school toilets. No idea how I didn’t get an infection.

Clearly I'm U 😂. My DD had her ears pierced at Superdrug and one got hair wrapped round it so I had to take it out then when I put it back it it started to close up over the stud. Anyway I took her to a tattoo place and they sorted it and the guy went on about how places with a gun should be closed down so I was just shocked to see this.

I did my ears myself (with needle). ok, but one is a little crooked.
My 3 holes done with a gun are all much better.

I don’t think that that’s any more likely than the eighteen year-old at the shop getting it wrong.

When you say it shouldn’t be allowed, what law do you think is being broken?

Did a second lot in mine when rather inebriated, aged about 19, using the earrings I'd had them pierced with a few years previously.

I need to buy one as my ears have partially sealed up and I'm not paying £50 to re-pierce them. Thanks for the post OP. Ordering now !

Have to say I've used them and pierced 3 holes, one in cartilage and no probs. 🤷🏻‍♀️ have to admit I'm not sure it's the wisest thing to do tho 🤣

What’s the alternative, a license needed to purchase an earring gun? It’s not a rifle.
