AIBU?

Feel like a mug

Good relationship, so far. I'm 51, he's 64. Seeing each other for 3 months. Great sex, good laughs, mutual hobbies etc. Bought him mince pies today, as a treat. First time he couldn't get it up and he blamed indigestion on minced pies.

AIBU or is this insult to injury?

...why do you feel like a mug?

No idea what you mean by 'insult to injury' or 'feeling like a mug'.

Erectile dysfunction is common in the over 60s as you'll no doubt be aware of.

Bit of a thoughtless comment from him, but it sounds like he was trying to be factual rather than blaming you specifically (just inferring that from the context you’ve given here). How come you feel like a mug?

Mince pies are a natural and well-known anaphrodisiac. I'm not surprised you feel like a mug.

Do you feel like a mug because you bought mince pies in October?

...why do you feel like a mug?

Because I'm buying him treats, to follow a meal I've made for him, and he's saying my treat has given him indigestion. Could be true but sex after 8 times, no problem him getting it up then he struggles tonight and puts it down to my treat. Just feel really low.

Oh come on. He's trying to save face. Don't take it so personally. These things happen.

Stop buying mince pies in October.

I reckon stewed rhubarb would go well with mince pies actually.

He's 64. This can happen from time to time. If you show him he doesn't need to make excuses it will hopefully happen less

He'll have run out of Viagra then.

It is likely it was your treat. It is not a big deal. Catch yourself on!

A treat? He's not a dog. He's getting older, he's possibly not going to be able to get it up on demand now he's in his sixties. He's probably blaming the mince pies as he's embarrassed, you don't sound very compassionate and a bit me me me

Maybe try oysters next time.

Why would it make you feel low?! It’s a mince pie. Maybe it did cause indigestion, that’s not a slight on you?! Men of 64 often suffer from erectile dysfunction.

Sounds like he's just trying to save embarrassment for himself, though. It's not a personal dig, he's not said 'it's your fault.'

OP I'd guess he feels more of a mug. Don't worry about it, these things happen.

Thanks guys. Needed other women's POV. Yes, he was clumsy but isn't that a 'typical' man? First time out of 8 times he's not got it up..ain't bad and yes I'm counting! X

How wld you feel if you couldn’t “get it up”?

The guy’s embarrassed & personally sex on a v full stomach - not ideal.

Saying you feel v low sounds like you’re really insulted / feeling rejected.

You’ve had great sex so far so just reign back on the mince pies going forward!

Report
properdoughnut · 02/10/2022 21:20

Yeah don't embarrass him. It's no big deal.

Perhaps he needs a sympathetic partner rather than a mince pie.

He he's having problems with penetrative sex perhaps just a session of cuddling would help. Lots you can do as well as in-out shake it all about.

Good to see we've cheered you up OP and I would consider @APlanetFarFarAway advice next time! Seriously don't make a big deal of it, he probably feels embarrassed. Look forward to next time, and yes it probably will happen again in the future. Just don't take it personally.
