Needing help/advice.
Can anyone advise if this is rat/mouse poison that I have just found in my back garden.
Back garden is secure and I have a dog so scared in case dog has eaten some of it.
It is smooth to touch with like a waxy feel to it.

Oops ignore just saw your last update.

Well done for sorting your dog. I hope he's OK. Your neighbour sounds truely evil. Please be careful.

Harrystylestutu · 02/10/2022 21:00

Hope your dogs ok. What kind of person could do something so unspeakable. Please keep us updated on your dog 💐

If someone was trying to poison your dog surely they would put the poison in something that a dog might eat. Do any of the bits of poison look like the y been cut rather than gnawed?

The reason I'm suggesting rats is that we had rats bring poison into our garden. We saw the rats carrying it so we knew for certain. It wasn't from either neighbors house but from a few door down.

Fitbachick · 03/10/2022 01:22

Have never seen rats in our area.
The pieces of poison have been cut they have not been gnawed.
Apparently this type of poison smells sweet so attractive to dogs and cats.
Also the place where they were left suggests that it was deliberate.

This is awful OP. Pleased that there is someothing that the vet could do though, reassuring. I have a dog and this is so worrying. Hope the police get to the bottom of it. Leaving rat poison around - so dodgy.

I'd go and knock on the houses and say to them id just thought I'd inform you ,that someone has be deliberately throwing poison in my garden, check yours just in case.
So you are not actually accusing them, but they know you know.
Also the police may call to ask questions as they have been informed. X

Fitbachick · 03/10/2022 02:59

No there has been no complaints about our dog. Very rarely barks. He is elderly and spends most of his time sleeping.

Is that a hole in the one on a picture or just a weird shadow?

It has holes so you can slot it into the bait box, prevents it being carried out by the rats.

CherrySmiler · 03/10/2022 08:06

We have an enclosed garden also and found a large rat sized snap trap in it a few days ago. Subsequently disappeared. We suspect foxes.

edenhills · 03/10/2022 09:11

I would be putting up cameras. Hope your dog is doing ok? X

I know. I was asking because if that's the hole, it was really not dragged in because it should be still on the wire.
I see op added they were cut up really

I have an elderly dog and the thought of someone deliberately poisoning her is too much to bear 😰 really hope your doggie is okay OP and the police are helpful and you can get to the bottom of this.

Unforgettablefire · 03/10/2022 12:58

@Ihatethenewlook good for you. We had some psycho dropping stuff on the beach here poisoning dogs they were never caught.

justasking111 · 03/10/2022 13:03

We had this in the village anti freeze. Lost eight cats in a short space of time. It was a landlord of a property not a local. Police did interview the bastard who had a record for other things it stopped then

Meseekslookatme · 03/10/2022 13:06

Yes it is. We have some at home

NaTTate · 09/10/2022 09:28

Is your dog ok now @Fitbachick ?

Fitbachick · 09/10/2022 11:44

@NaTTate thanks for asking.
We had a few days where he was not right at all but appears to be back to his old self. Whether that was down to the medication he was given to remove any poison or the poison we do not know. So grateful for that.
Have to say the vet we got was absolutely fantastic.

I'm really glad to hear that @Fitbachick. You (and he) have been on my mind. I've got a dog too and it's such an awful thing to think of happening.
