Does anyone here know central London?

Hello, I’m very sorry to post here it’s not AIBU. I have ALN and am getting stressed and overwhelmed trying to organise a trip to London for me and my children .
I can’t seem to work out where things are despite looking on Google and how to get from one place to another.
we want to do the following

we will arrive in London at Waterloo station

London dungeon
London Eye
show at Adelphi theatre
Aquarium (sealife London).

I obviously need to book these things in advance, is it possible to do this in one day? Sorry I don’t know anyone in London to ask. Which order would be best? I was thinking the show latest (either matinee or evening)
thank you very much if you can help

The aquarium is a bit rubbish imo so I’d do London Dungeon over that with teens.

Banana2079 · 01/10/2022 14:23

Waterloo or Westminster stations are closest

sealife and London eye and London dungeon are next to each other
If u go early you can do all three
sealife only takes an hour to go round it’s not that big
London eye is half an hour ride
so yes u can do All three…. there is no parking though as it’s central London
you might find some disability parking opposite st thomas hospital (opposite A&E) entrance

fluffiphlox · 01/10/2022 14:23

Don’t bother with the Dungeon. I had the misfortune to go there with work once upon a time. I’m glad I didn’t pay.

That's too much for one day. Once you add in time for eating and queueing it'll be miserable.
It's mostly Southbank based, except the theatre. Depending on how old your dc's are, and the time of year, you might want to factor in time to walk over the bridge to the theatre.

Do you think we would be able to skip queuing? We were able to do that at Alton Towers because of the disabled badge (he has autism)

Oh if older then maybe dungeon not a aquarium.

You could go from Waterloo straight to the dungeon, I think closest station is London Bridge. If they are up for a walk it's about 30 mins or a short tube journey

London Dungeon has moved, it's at Waterloo now.

Croque · 01/10/2022 14:24

Even if you are allowed to skip queues, these places are hectic, crammed with people and all sorts of loud. It is far too much to do in one day.

Croque · 01/10/2022 14:25

If your DS gets sensory overload then skip the dungeon altogether.

Textboxmm · 01/10/2022 14:25

I wouldn’t even try to drive round there - unless it’s a Sunday the traffic is horrific. There are car parks by Southbank, we have parked there before but it was the getting to and from them that’s the issue.
You have the Tube, trains and buses at your disposal.

Textboxmm · 01/10/2022 14:27

You could email them before and ask about accessibility but if you book tickets you have times slots, so queuing is minimal anyway.
dO NOT pay extra at the EYE for ‘faster’ tickets. They aren’t that much faster.
just go early.

msbevvy · 01/10/2022 14:27

Sounds doable to me

I would do the aquarium first and then the London Eye, both very close to Waterloo station.

It is then an easy stroll to the London Dungeon with plenty of eateries on the way.

You would definitely need to do the show in the evening in order to fit all that in.

Textboxmm · 01/10/2022 14:28

London Dungeon is lame tho, really rubbish!

IneedsomehelpinLondon · 01/10/2022 14:29

Croque · 01/10/2022 14:25

If your DS gets sensory overload then skip the dungeon altogether.

I know but he says he really wants to go and he loves scary things (especially with it being near Halloween) I personally would prefer to give it a miss but he’s adamant he wants to go and I think he will enjoy it. Although the crowds do worry me but there’s nothing we can do about that. I guess these attractions and central London will always be busy regardless of day or time

You're getting a lot of out-of-date advice here. As PP have said, the London Dungeon moved in 2013 and is now right by the London Eye and the Sealife Centre, all a short walk from Waterloo.

I'd drop the Dungeon from your itinerary, book the evening performance at the Adelphi and have an early dinner before the theatre.

watcherintherye · 01/10/2022 14:30

I think it’s a really good idea, as a pp suggested, to go on the London Eye after the theatre matinee. Would be beautiful at dusk as the lights are starting to go on.

Rainallnight · 01/10/2022 14:30

pennyfairweather · 01/10/2022 14:21

It's on the same block, isn't it?

Oh has it moved? Still a lot for one day.

OP, yes, you can walk between all of them, and from Waterloo. Walk to the Adelphi is a bit longer but very nice, over the river etc.

Oh that sounds lovely I hadn’t thought about it being beautiful at dusk

I think some people may be referring to the old location of the London Dungeon, it used to be near London Bridge.

It moved quite a while ago and now is in the same building (county hall) as the Aquarium. Probably within 150 yards of the London Eye.

The London Eye is a 30 minute rotation but with the queue etc I’d allow an hour.

London Dungeon tour takes approximately 50 minutes but again with the queue and shop I’d probably allow an hour and a half.

The Aquarium is free flowing so you can take as long as you take. They recommend 1-1.5 hours to fully enjoy it.

Timings wise I think it would definitely be manageable (with lunch in between). Especially if you started at 10am for example. I think the kids would probably enjoy the Dungeon at their age.

To get to the Adelphi you can either walk across the bridge close to the London Eye, or you could go back to Waterloo & get a train to Charing Cross and walk to the theatre. There are loads of restaurants around that area, chains and independents. Also lots of restaurants in the South Bank.

It would be quite a full day, but definitely achievable I would say! If you’re visiting multiple attractions definitely look at the London Pass that they do. Much cheaper to get multiple attractions on that than to buy separately.

Have a great time whatever you decide!

Surtsey · 01/10/2022 14:32

The London Eye and the Sealife Centre are so close together it makes sense to do one straight after the other. We did that when our dc were tots.

PortiaWithNoBreaks · 01/10/2022 14:34

We did a behind the scenes tour at the aquarium and it was fantastic. It was a few years ago though so not sure if they still do it. It was fascinating and not that expensive per person.

Textboxmm · 01/10/2022 14:38

‘you could go back to Waterloo & get a train to Charing Cross and walk to the theatre. There are loads of’

the walk back to Waterloo is longer than the walk across the bridge to Charing Cross!

dworky · 01/10/2022 14:40

As others have said, they are all possible because of locality but The London Dungeon is not really suitable for young children as it's quite gory.

X posted with your post saying one of your dc very keen on LD! I think doing both that and the aquarium would be a rush with the other things. So maybe LD, lunch, matinee, tea, London Eye would make for a relaxed but full day? The aquarium is a Sea Life Centre in any case, of which there are many around the country! Waterloo to the Adelphi is only a 20 min walk.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 01/10/2022 14:43

Oops sorry didn't realise dungeon had moved!

DuckTails · 01/10/2022 14:45

I’m going to buck the trend here and say ditch the aquarium and do London Dungeon, London Eye and a show although even that is a lot.

make sure to book somewhere to eat for lunch and dinner in advance or buy/prepare some food to take with you. Especially since there’s not many options around the Dungeon and London eye.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 01/10/2022 14:46

Lots of the attractions will allow you to enter for free as carer to your son, so you should save money. My son is autistic and gets dla, I don't have a blue badge but I've never been queried
