Does anyone here know central London?

Hello, I’m very sorry to post here it’s not AIBU. I have ALN and am getting stressed and overwhelmed trying to organise a trip to London for me and my children .
I can’t seem to work out where things are despite looking on Google and how to get from one place to another.
we want to do the following

we will arrive in London at Waterloo station

London dungeon
London Eye
show at Adelphi theatre
Aquarium (sealife London).

I obviously need to book these things in advance, is it possible to do this in one day? Sorry I don’t know anyone in London to ask. Which order would be best? I was thinking the show latest (either matinee or evening)
thank you very much if you can help

I think you should ditch either the aquarium or London Dungeon. Then it’s manageable and you can fit it all in fairly easily if you go for an evening show.

DickDarstedly · 01/10/2022 14:15

These things are all quite close to on another so it’s a well chosen itinerary and possible to do on one day

IneedsomehelpinLondon · 01/10/2022 14:16

Sorry forgot to add I have a blue disabled badge for my son. Will this make any difference in booking or our experience? Not sure if it’s relevant (not a physical disability)

Way too much for one day. Sea Life and London Dungeon could take half a day on their own.

Sea life and London Eye are pretty close to each other so you could probably manage those if you arrived early in London then watch a show in the evening.

Rainallnight · 01/10/2022 14:17

Don’t worry. These are all very close to each other. However, doing them all in a day would be a bit of a rush and wouldn’t allow much time for wandering, having lunch etc.

I would be inclined to arrive Waterloo, go to the aquarium, then lunch on the South Bank, then London Eye. Then coffee/wander/dinner then show at the Adelphi.

London Dungeon is slightly out of the way of the Eye and aquarium.

IneedsomehelpinLondon · 01/10/2022 14:17

Ok thank you both. Are they walking distance from one to another or should I get the tube?

How old are the children?

If you’re taking children I’d drop the Dungeon unless they’re older ones that are really into scary stuff.

How old are the children?

two boys 13 and 15

That's a lot.

I would ditch the dungeon for another time. The eye and aquarium are very close to Waterloo.

Yes lots of these places have disabled child and carer tickets so you may not need to pay full price.

pollina · 01/10/2022 14:18

It’s a packed itinerary but all those things are pretty close assuming you don’t mind a bit of a walk. Personally I would bin the dungeon as it’s pretty tacky nonsense although I know it’s popular with older kids (and it is also close by)! I would walk first from Waterloo to the eye and have an early booking. There are usually lots of food markets on the south bank by the concert halls so you could pick up lunch after, there or in a restaurant near the National Theatre or the footbridge across the river . Then walk along to the aquarium. Then back on yourself to Waterloo area and over the footbridge takes you very close to Adelphi on the Strand. The show is ace! Then it’s an easy walk back over the footbridge to Waterloo.

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/10/2022 14:19

How old are they? London dungeon is pretty damn scary, still freaked ours/their cousins out in their latish teens.

DickDarstedly · 01/10/2022 14:19

Difference of opinion!

I live very close to Waterloo. I think it would be fine to do them all because there is very little travelling between them.

London Eye and the Aquarium are both right next to each other and very close to Waterloo Station. The London Dungeon is right next to London Bridge Station. It’s 5 mins on the train from Waterloo or a really great stroll along the river from the other attractions, taking in fabulous and interesting views.

megletthesecond · 01/10/2022 14:20

That's too much for one day. Once you add in time for eating and queueing it'll be miserable.
It's mostly Southbank based, except the theatre. Depending on how old your dc's are, and the time of year, you might want to factor in time to walk over the bridge to the theatre.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 01/10/2022 14:20

Oh if older then maybe dungeon not a aquarium.

You could go from Waterloo straight to the dungeon, I think closest station is London Bridge. If they are up for a walk it's about 30 mins or a short tube journey

wanttokickoffbutcant · 01/10/2022 14:20

London Eye and Sealife are right on Southbank so very short walking distance from Waterloo and close to each other.

I would ditch the dungeon, enjoy Southbank and walk about the river to Borough Market. From there you could get a bus or tube to the west end for a show.

pinkyredrose · 01/10/2022 14:20

Too much in one day, you won't be able to make the most of the experiences. I'd do 2 of those, the theatre with one of the other experiences beforehand and food in between.

You'll spend most of the day rushing around getting hot and stressed otherwise.

HappyHamsters · 01/10/2022 14:20

You can walk to The Eye from Waterloo then walk to the Aquarium. I would forget the Dungeon. What time is the theatre performance.

EddieHowesBlackandWhiteArmy · 01/10/2022 14:21

Make sure you get the Citymapper app, it’s great for getting you where you need to be and showing you the transport options available. I never visit London without it.

EvilRingahBitch · 01/10/2022 14:21

In theory you could do it if you arrived early and left late, depending on the nature of your DS's disability, because they're all within easy reach of Waterloo, but personally I'd ditch either the Dungeon or Sealife.

Itinerary
Dungeon/Sealife
Lunch
Matinee
London Eye
Train home

Prebook the Eye definitely, and check their website for disabled access.

It's on the same block, isn't it?

Oh that’s interesting thank you, I wasn’t sure about concessions with Blue Badge and didn’t want to presume. Would be great to save some money

DickDarstedly · 01/10/2022 14:22

Agree that if you drop one thing then it should be London Dungeon. It’s a bad combination of tacky and frightening, very expensive and not close to the other things in your list (though not that far).

Textboxmm · 01/10/2022 14:23

London Eye and The Aquarium are right beside each other. And very close to Waterloo. Plus theyre on the South Bank so lots of little shops and places to eat around there.
walk from Waterloo to south bank, have. Look around the 2nd hand book stalls right by the south bank centre, walk down to the Eye.
those two things plus lunch will more than take up a whole day.
you can then walk across the bridge and pop out by embankment to go to the theatre.
we did that in one day but we did stay overnight as the show was an evening one.
oh, and if you have Tesco club card points USE then to get tickets for the Eye and Aquarium!
50p in club card vouchers is the equivalent of £1.50 towards ticket prices.
