Why is it worse in the U.K.

I’m British but not in the U.K. at the moment. Where I am, we also have food price increases and petrol was v high for a while, but it’s all not to the extent as the U.K…why is the U.K. in such dire straits compared to other places?

I have lived in the US, UK (current), Canada (citizen) and Ireland (also citizen) and your post isn’t remotely reflective of how things are, right now.

Stop talking rubbish.

You have no idea as to what is happening in the UK then.

I lived in Ottawa (Rockliffe Park) for many years, and I attended Elite schools there, and the UK I see now is a FAR cry from.

Stop deluding yourself.

And I have 3 passports and 4 residencies.

It means NOTHING. We are talking about the UK.

Stop deflecting, and stick to the topic.

Oh calm down.

You made me laugh then and you’re back for more. No idea why. I guess the doom meter is rising or something.

But I only engage with thoughtful intelligent posters so here we happily depart 😀

I’m not deflecting you plank.

And to try and compare those places, at those various different times and then to try and make a cojent argument against the UK now, is misguided at best.

And I have 3 passports and many more residencies, so why even pay that information 😂

Yes, I have!

Have you?

Where are we today exactly compared to where we were 10 days ago for example.

Were you aware that to curb inflation,
interest rates should have gone up substantially even without this statement?

I don’t think the ‘mini-fudged’ was a good idea. I am against it. But tbh infs are going downhill left right and centre in <whispers loudly> pretty much every Western economy.

Many of the Eastern ones too

Global in fact.

It’s not just the Uk FGS.

International borrowing rates for the UK have jumped to an eye watering 4+%.
The BoE has had to spend £65 billion pounds.
More people in the UK have realised how much contempt our government has for us.

Do not pretend that the UK is in the same place now as it was before the Tory "mini budget".AngryHmmAngry

Quince I wouldn’t bother.

They are on the side of something that happens on mn that you can’t say lest deleted. Best to ignore.

Painful, at best some of these interactions…

It’s not. Ireland and the Nederland just as bad.
it’s got fuck all to do with brexit. Many countries are in exactly the same position. 1973 we had the fuel crisis which caused a huge recession and once again relying on imported energy has caused huge financial problems compounded by covid. Energy security is paramount to financial security- we need to produce our own energy- both gas and electric.

You've got off lightly... I was told on a different thread that I've made up a career in financial services as I've shown no knowledge whatsoever. And that I'm clearly a 55 year old junior analyst who has never been promoted.

I had to see the funny side (I'm not in my 50s nor have I ever been an analyst but don't you love MN personal feedback sometimes?!).

Oh dear at the outbursts

I think we should all take a breath, in our tiny villages and relax…

The pp who would like the prize for whatever can have it and we can just ignore. It doesn’t matter that much.

I wasted my time then. You are not even new money.

Just another variant of the common folks.

Have fun grifting.

So how can you possibly think that the UK is in the same position as it was 10 days ago?🤯
